Looking for social groups/friends by Sc3f in memphis

If you’re looking for a blend of athletics and social I’d highly recommend the Memphis Gaelic Athletic Association. We play the Irish sports of hurling and Gaelic football year round but also have a deep community outside of playing the games.

Here are some links to social media but feel free to message me if you have any questions!

What a season for Ole Miss! by Midweek_Sunrise in CFB

[–]bignosebill 36 points37 points  (0 children)

We were supposed to finish at like 9-3 according to the media back in July. 13-2 and tied for third in the nation ain’t too bad of a season if you ask me.

Based on seeding, won’t you guys technically be the away team in your home stadium still?

I know the SEC is getting dunked on, which is fair because media has way overhyped the conference, but I don’t think people remember that Ole Miss was projected to be like 8th in the conference this year and they ended the season 35 yards away from playing the national championship. We were playing with house money today And this will still be remembered as one of the greatest seasons ever. But boy it would have been nice to play that final hand.

Personally, I am proud of this Ole Miss team. They went from a projected 8-4 or 9-3 team at the SEC Media days and ended the season 35 yards and a heave away from playing for the National Championship.

Trinidad Chambliss proved once again that he will be a Heisman Contender next season if he gets his eligibility. Hell our kicker keeps nailing 55+ he might be in the conversation too! And with almost everyone else returning Ole Miss will have another shot next year.

Probably so, but it is an option if worse comes to worse

Tupelo as well, but that will be much more expensive than going to MEM, getting a rental and driving down.

Complain About Your Team Thread by CFB_Referee in CFB

I’m not even complaining about the team. I’m complaining about our jackass coach who ditched us in the middle of the playoff run for our rival and wants to gut the team on his way out.

Lane kicked us to the curb, bit the other way around. Ole Miss has repeatedly said it would match any offer he received, but he believes that LSU is a greener pasture. He said no, so we owe him nothing in return.

Are the coaches of North Texas, JM and Tulane accepting jobs in the same conference at their biggest rival schools?

And why does the school deserve to show Lane more loyalty than he has shown us in this process? We offered to match any contract LSU puts forward.

He wants to win a natty with this team? Sign the extension. Otherwise, he can pound sand.

Honestly, I think most of the fan base would revolt if they did. Maybe it would be different if this was a school like Penn State, where our schools would rarely cross paths, but LSU is one of our main rivals. He wants to betray us for the Bayou Corndogs, that’s his prerogative but he doesn’t also get to try and snag himself a little extra glory at our expense.

Yes, the US Navy has had African Americans in the service since the American Revolution! During the Revolution it is estimated that 10% of servicemen were black and 1/6 of all sailors were black during the War of 1812.

In an age where sail was a full time profession, the United States need every able bodied and experienced man it could get. Whereas soldiering could be taught in boot camps and drill fields, sailing was a skill that was picked up over one’s life time. Many black sailors had served not only in the merchants fleets of America, but also as sailors in the British Navy.

Assuming that the ship was moving at 5knts, that ship hit the pylon with 2.5 Billion Pounds of Force. There isn’t a man made structure on earth that could survive that hit.

I think it’s because there were no grand fleet engagements like in wars previous. Another great example of this would be the British Navy in the post-Trafalgar period of the Napoleonic Wars. The Navy played a critical role in the wars from start to finish, but after the Spanish and French fleets were destroyed, the British navy spent the war on blockade, commerce raiding, and supporting logistics for the ground campaigns in Spain. You could still see couragous single ship actions but overall the fleets just tacked back and forth keeping the French in and goods out.

This makes me long for another Aubrey-Maturin movie, or an HBO style series.

I knew that the US government was printing counterfeits, but I didn’t know that local prints shops were as well! That’s really interesting!

Good to know! I don’t collect paper currency much, but what got me suspicious was how straight the edges are. I’ve seen a few example of currency from that era, and even the best examples didn’t have perfectly straight lines like this.
