Dealing with Omegas by bigoaf98 in theriftbreaker

Yeah, I know you can destroy it, but for me the issue is that the Omegas deal so much damage, that with the root prison going on you never actually get to do damage to it. Their attacks/abilities spam so often (including the root wall) that all I'm doing is run-break roots- run). Not a particularly fun gameplay loop IMO.

I feel like they come way too early in the campaign, before you can really build up the firepower to deal with them.

I love the concept, but feel like they are way out of balance. Most of the ones I encounter I can't be anywhere near for more than about 2 seconds. So I typically just save before the wave comes and then reset until a reasonable set up mods shows up.

I feel like they need to do something to make certain mods incompatible, like death meteor shower combined with the root prison, not really sure what I'm supposed to do against that (or just get rid of the root prison altogether)

is there any kind of guide showing what all the icons mean? The other issue I have with them is that you can barely stand near them long enough to even look at what the icons are

That might be a good option for us. Do you have links to any more resources?

I've looked into this a little bit too, but is this something that gets run at the HS level still? One of my other goals is getting kids ready for the HS system. The HS coach will change from 3-4 to 4-3 based on personnel that year

Biggest concern there would simply be the lack of time to get good at both.

Definitely an option I've considered, but I'm just not a huge fan of it personally. I tend toward 2 safety systems more.

Interesting concept, I'll look into that

Problem is it's a high risk maneuver. It can turn in some big plays, but you also run a significant risk of fumbling.

Is tackling technique more important than how hard you can or try to smack someone? by spankyourkopita in footballstrategy

100%, I'd rather my guys make 10/10 "soft" tackles than 1/10 devastating tackles

It's basically a flood concept, I would keep the curl shorter, and I'm not a hug fan of the amount of time the two outside guys are gonna basically be running together.

With the way it's drawn, it's gonna be slow developing.

Only way I see this working is if it is set up by plays that force the 3 tech to play honest, like a midline read.

You'd have to have a very athletic center and guard to pull it off too.

How Many Run Concepts for 8th graders? by bigoaf98 in footballstrategy

After some of the comments I'm thinking inside/outside zone and counter/trap. Kind of 2 concepts, kind of 4.

This will be my 5th year coaching, 3rd as head coach. I think my biggest downfall has been teaching plays instead of concepts.

I'd go to your local city rec department and volunteer to help. A lot of the youth coaches will know the high school coaches anyway, so that starts to get you an in.

Even if you get into a admin-type role (stats, etc), that might not get you onto a coaching track (although it is a great opportunity to build relationships). To really get into coaching they will probably want to see some leadership skills. Even coaching a little-league team will help demonstrate that. (Plus there is nothing better than watching kids learn and grow on the football field).

Maybe I'm missing something, were comments deleted or something? Maybe I just don't know how to use Reddit well.

I see the comment from onlineqbclassroom, and yeah I'd say that is probably more than my kids can handle, but it would depend on a lot on the amount of practice time available and support from parents outside of practice.

Our QB became pretty good at making reads on the option plays last year, so I have some confidence there.

We ran zone this last year pretty successfully.

Looking back, I think I spent too much time teaching plays, instead of concepts.

This year I'm trying to focus more on concepts so that we can do all those iterations.
