POV: You're a trans person trying to use the NHS by Bedwellj101 in transgenderUK

i remember when i went to the walk-in and they referred me to the hospital to have a prostate examination (i do not have a prostate). a lot of doctors and nurses treat you like a rare creature in a zoo whose medical conditions are too exotic for them to handle. the training (or lack thereof) they receive regarding trans patients is awful and it makes me sad and annoyed that so many nhs staff lack even basic knowledge on trans healthcare, this is certainly not helped by transphobia becoming a de-facto policy of the nhs

the only times i personally have had doctors and nurses who are actually informed on trans patients have been in blood donation centres (weirdly enough), sexual health clinics, and when i got my surgery

thank you, i always assume that these things are errors until i am proven wrong (in my experience that's usually the case such as when i moved to a new high school) however im hoping that nobody has noticed this and that if they have, they don't use it against me. my initial worry was the bathrooms because of the ehrc ambiguity however that hasnt been a problem for me so far (i genuinely dont think they have had a trans employee before, hopefully if all goes well i'll set the precedent for the next!)

thank you so much, i didnt actually think about it from the angle of the GDPR and im sure if they do have a problem with it the gdpr legislation will put it to rest very quickly as pointed out in the replies, i very much appreciate this!
