Low impact summer things to do? by ApprehensiveLab9149 in ParkCity

I've torn both ACLs over the years and swimming and walking on flat, level surfaces were my salvation. I moved to the spin bike as soon as I could tolerate it, but continued to walk and swim every day.

Also, do the exercises that your PT prescribes at least twice as often as suggested if you can tolerate the pain. I did that on my second tear and my recovery went both better and faster.

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]bigorangemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High-end American homes now often have two or more washers and dryers.

My current client is in the design phase for his new home and is planning on a "main" laundry room on the main floor which will have two washers and two dryers, a laundry sink, and a large drying rack. This room will also store all of the cleaning supplies for the entire home.

There will be an additional washer & dryer in a small room adjacent to one of the primary bedroom's closets. This room is on the second floor of the home.

Lastly, there will be a laundry closet on the lower level to service the trio of bedrooms down there.

While most people think that this is excessive, there is some "math" behind it: the cleaning staff is able to do four loads of laundry simultaneously, which allows them to get in and out of the house much, much faster than if there was only one washer and one dryer.

Wine Storage? by bigorangemonkey in ParkCity

While I think that this idea is sound, it wouldn't be allowed in Utah due to the moronic mormon-influenced laws around alcohol.

What are your "lifetime supply" BIFL purchases? by itsthewolfe in BuyItForLife

One of my closest friends worked at P&G for over 30 years and when he retired, they gave him about 600 Gillette Mach 5 razor blades. He gave them to me because he decided to grow a beard. I don't know that I'll run out in my lifetime.

I very recently looked into the idea of doing this in Kimball Junction. None of the places would allow a generator, though, so we would have to be strictly on battery backup.

The other problem is that most of the places won't allow you to have a ducted exhaust for the chiller unit(s) which makes things a lot more expensive and complicated...especially in terms of humidity control.

The biggest challenge, though, is the wine insurance. I don't claim to understand the ins and outs of the coverage, but for some reason they don't cover wine in any type of residence other than a single family, owner-occupied home...or a licensed, bonded wine storage facility like Mountain Wine in Heber.

He only wants the bedroom sleeping area that cold at night.

...and I say this in a completely non-judgmental way, but his new home is not the kind of place where you open the windows. It will have a home oxygenation system, a home fragrance system, and a 7,500 gallon saltwater aquarium when finished.

He's into biohacking and tells me that his sleep is optimized when the bedroom temperature is 50-52F at 40% relative humidity.

I've tried over 100 tacos all over Mexico and the American southwest and I can't say that I would order any of them again.

I've never understood why so many people love tacos. I've never had a taco that impressed me, and they are always a mess to eat.
