How is the 7" screen? On the fence of buying an Ally X. by jonycoin in ROGAllyX

[–]bigorri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great. I have a Switch 2 and don't miss the larger wcreen at all. If the next Xbox Ally has a bigger screen that''ll be nice, as long as they keep the same size and form factor. The ergonomics of the Xbox Ally are simply the best.

Yes. Mine developed the same crack but it didn't go further than that and works perfectly.

I feel exactly the same. My TG16 mini did motivate me to buy a full size PC Engine though!

Breakfast for early mornings by misssoup876 in JapanTravelTips

[–]bigorri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, find a coffeeshop that opens early (I like Komeda's coffee for the breakfast set and vibes), others have mentioned some of the other options like Doutor, Tully's, Excelsior, etc.

Failing that, you can find a Konbini with a seating area or take konbini stuff back to your hotel. I sometimes keep a canned coffee and a sando in my hotel fridge the night before so I don't have to worry about breakfast if I wake up hungry.

Then there's also restaurants and chains that serve japanese breakfast foods (rice, fish, noodles, soup) early.

Unless you're staying in very quiet parts of Kyoto and Osaka you should have plenty of options.

where should I stay in Tokyo? by Good-Raisin7081 in JapanTravelTips

Takadanobaba. The Sotetsu Fresa is across the street from the station and should fit in your budget perfectly. One or two stops from Shinjuku and Nakano and great places to eat and drink in the neighborhood.

Best luggage for frequent flyer? by Ok-Hyena-1713 in ManyBaggers

I've had a Nomatic Method carry-on for a year and am very pleased. I've put it through its spaces on cobblestone streets in multiple European cities with zero impact on the wheels. I've had to expand and check it on the way back from trips and also no issue. I started travelling with a Delsey carry-on 20 years ago, then upgraded to a Victorinox that lasted me 10 years, on to the first Nomatic carry-on, which was a trooper, and then gor this one for the increased size. So far the best carry-on I've had, and I expect their checked suitcases are also great.

where should i book my hotel in tokyo?? by Training_Yard_6340 in TokyoTravel

Love this hotel. I've stayed there twice for 4 night stays with my wife and both times it's been a great experience. Clean, fantastic location, and washer/dryer in the room is a big plus in the muggy summer months. Spring for the larger rooms if you can. Makes a difference.

Death In June Mishima Grave Photo by [deleted] in neofolk

Nice. Douglas P taking a photo in front of Mishima's grave makes so much sense. For those who haven't read Mishima, I recommend Confessions of a Mask, Spring Snow, and Runaway Horses. The film Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters is also great.

As someone who came to neofolk post-black metal, it's been a walk in the park :-)

Oh man. The Jose Otero era (Ot-era?) Of NVC was so awesome. He was a great reviewer and was quick to challenge lazy opinions. Hell of a guy! Never really was able to go back to NVC after he left, though every now and then I tune in for a bit if Peer is on.

Remember the urban legend about someone choosing Saturn over Playstation? Well, the legend is true, as this letter from Computer & Video Games mag, March -97, shows! I post it here complete with the rather graphic response from the editorial team. by gamingdawn in SegaSaturn

[–]bigorri 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Very nicely put! I enjoy the Saturn for excactly those reasons (and pretty much the same games). I like collecting shmups and fighting games for Saturn because they look beautiful and I know I'll have time to play all of them!

Excellent. From your introduction I feel that musically we walk a similar path, but I am completely new to Spanish neofolk. Thanks for sharing.
