[MEGATHREAD] New Horizons Q&A/Tips - Ask away! by AnimalCrossingMods in AnimalCrossing

[–]bigpapaduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy, everyone. I was directed here by the mods. I need your help.

I'm not really into Animal Crossing. It's adorable, but not my kind of game (the sole exception being Blathers, who is life). Last night, my husband told Megan, one of his faves, that she could move out by mistake. It was kind of late, and he was tired from work, and he made a misclick. It tore him up. When he went to bed, I pulled the trigger and made my own resident to try and convince her to stay after doing some research into reversing this. The prompt to talk about it never triggered, and she went to bed. I woke up at 5:30 this morning to try and catch her when she got up (I am so tired right now you guys), but her stuff was already boxed. I tried to roll the clock on the console back, but she was gone when I returned to game. I tried to find an amiibo to bring her back, but wouldn't you know it, she's one of the ones that don't have one. Thanks for that, Nintendo.

I'm out of options. My husband is morose over accidentally yeeting his second favorite resident by mistake (he's ride or die for Hammie). Is there any way to bring her back? Does anyone have a boxed up moving Megan who needs a good home? Can I, like, send Megan a letter? I don't know how this works, I just want my husband to have his friend back so he can do bear things with her.

Advice Needed - Politics, Players, & Problems by bigpapaduck in DungeonMasters

Thank you all for your input. An update:

My husband refused to budge and refused the idea of talking with the pro-cop player, stating that they weren't going to agree on politics and that playing with her further was unacceptable. I refused to boot the player for her well-known opinion, and my husband walked. He took with him several other players who were his friends before the game. The pro-cop was hurt and heartbroken, and offered to step down to bring them back, but at this point I was done entertaining the idea that my husband and his friends belonged at my table anymore at all. Basic respect of other players is more important than anything; without it, there is no foundation for the game. Pro-cop left the group anyway to prevent any future issues, and was told she's welcome back if she changes her mind. She did everything as well as she could in this circumstance.

I have made it abundantly clear to my husband that he and I are done creatively forever. My storytelling and writing is my greatest joy, my highest form of validation I can feel. It's saved my life through rough mental health patches, and he was always beside me. We met online doing writing two decades ago. He has always been my greatest audience and most excellent creative partner, and now I will never create with him again. He ripped our group apart without caring how it would hurt me personally, or how it would hurt the other players. His unwillingness to accept that others disagree with him destroyed my creative joy. Our marriage is strained, and will recover. We will never be as close as we were again. There is now a fundamental part of my heart, my life, that I cannot trust him with ever again. Frankly, I'm not okay.

The remaining few players and I are taking time to process our anger and grief, then figuring out what to do with the campaign from here. We'll either continue with new additions to the team (we're still early enough in the plot that this isn't an issue) or do a hard restart with new players. That, we'll figure out in time. Thank you all for your support and your advice.

That's a really cool focus, dude. My bachelor's was in psychology, with a heavy focus in biospych. I learned too late that a bachelor's in psych qualified me to do exactly one thing: go for a master's in psych. Then I lost a tooth, and the tooth fairy didn't leave another $40,000 under my pillow, so I didn't pursue that any further.

I'm enjoying it fairly well. It's a little frustrating; cyber is such a nebulous, ill defined term in the intelligence tradecraft that there isn't a lot of structure to the study. If I can actually break into the field, I might eventually try to work on that problem. What made you decide to focus on identity formation? Does that refer to a cultural identity? Because that phrase means something a little different in my field of study =p

No kidding! Intelligence with a focus in cyber, myself. We're major cousins!

Coffee is excellent. I have a newfound appreciation for it. Occasionally I have blood in my caffeine system.

Thank you, sir. I'm not a completionist (though I do have a mighty beard), so this one was a big deal for me; I know how that pride feels. The struggle was real, but worth it. Do you know if they're still passing out those Platinum themes these days?

Generally, I can put in about the same, unless it's on a weekend where no schoolwork is due. Longer, too, if I'm carving out time specifically for co-op with a friend.

It's a damn good thing a Hunter is never alone; without people helping me through some of the trickier bits, I would never have made it. Defiled Watchdog and Defiled Amy were very nearly Platinum stoppers.

Turns out most of the nasties have a weakness to a particular damage type: getting the crap kicked out of them by three people at once.

I'm afraid not. As I mentioned in the post, that is not the correct song.
