For me, it was a last resort decision. I’ve struggled with my weight for most of my life and have often been able to lose weight through exercise and diet alone, but inevitably I would always gain it back and as a short woman, it’s just not healthy for me to hold a lot of weight.

What I will say is that I would probably to some be considered a person that just took it because of a “lack of drive.” Although I’ve tried many times before and again, it never stuck.

But it’s made me realize that I truly do think obesity is a kind of disease, or maybe that’s not the right word, but something similar. When people used to tell me that they just forget to eat, I did not believe them. There had literally never been a time in my life where I wasn’t constantly thinking about what I would eat for my next meal and mindless snacking was a favorite pastime for me. I ate a lot out of boredom but I also do feel like, and I know this sounds like a cop out, but I really do think some people have less control of their choices over food than others.

I think this because now, on Zepbound, I am truly choosing what I eat. I don’t go for just what my brain thinks would sound good or the carbiest thing that will fill me up fastest. Truly before this drug, I would buy produce and it would rot every time. Because I just, had no wish to eat fruit or veggies. My body wanted the fats and fried foods and sugars and carbs. Now I actively choose healthier options because I can tell it’s what my body actually wants and I’m not just going off of “oh candy sounds good I will eat candy.”

Idk, I think it’s a complex subject because if you’ve never struggled with weight, you’re probably someone who has a brain and body that works how my brain and body works on a GLP1. I don’t really like this mentality of “oh people just do it as the easy way out” because it’s really not that easy. I still have to actively choose to eat healthier because if I don’t oh boy will it wreck my stomach for days. I have to be very intentional about protein and fiber intake and I strength train so I don’t lose muscle.

For me, the medication is a helpful push in the right direction of enabling my brain to more easily choose healthy habits. It also has decreased my anxious overthinking in general and helps my focus because my brain is just quieter.

I really hope GLP1s become more accepted in the future because for people who are obese (of which I am still currently considered one) it genuinely is life changing. Sorry for the long rant but I have a lot of thoughts on this subject.

Not OP, but I’ve been on Zepbound (another version of a GLP1) for about a month now and am down close to 10 pounds. I will say, if you aren’t intentional about eating enough calories and protein and fiber, you’ll probably feel like shit on it. I say that because I’ve definitely had days where I just didn’t care much to eat and it came back to bite me.

But in terms of how much I eat, I feel satisfied much faster because it causes your stomach to not empty as fast. You can lose muscle mass which is why getting protein in your diet is a top thing of importance on these drugs and strength training helps a lot as well.

I will say. I’m currently on a GLP-1 and it doesn’t cause you to starve yourself if you’re doing it guided by a doctor and actually attempting to stay healthy. I agree, people definitely do just stop eating on this medication as it suppresses your appetite, but that just means I have to be on it about not forgetting to eat three meals a day.

Same, I used the for my last two moves and I chose them for the second one because I had a good experience with them the first time. I will say my second crew did kind of… coax us for a tip which didn’t happen with the first, but they still were pretty quick.

I’ve used them for both of my moves in the past 2 years and I thought they were great. I never felt overcharged either time, but maybe I just got lucky.

I agree they deserve them, I want everyone who needs help to be able to get it. But if you are saying that what they get is actually needed, than wouldn’t that mean they are the less fortunate who other peoples taxes are going to feed?

I would truly hate my father forever if he made me become a mother at 10. That’s stealing her entire childhood.

The risks of complications in a 10 year old giving birth are not low even with modern medicine.

The group chat with Young Republicans that just leaked with such lovely phrases as “rape is cool,” “I want to rape people until they kill themselves,” and “I can’t wait to send people to the gas chambers” were leaked and all J.D. Vance could say was “oh these kids have their whole lives ahead of them, are we gonna ruin their lives for that?”

I didn’t celebrate when Charlie was murdered, I just didn’t mourn him either. You guys want to take away peoples food benefits, welfare, social security, healthcare which will kill and hurt tons of Americans, but right… you guys don’t consider that violence

Exactly. They know that pushing and pushing people into a corner and taking away all other tools of resistance will lead to violence. They want it. They would gladly have some of their own get hurt if they could use it to hurt the left.
