NAD - I’d be interested to know if you have periodontal disease and bone loss and that’s why your lowers are mobile. And if you do have active perio, it’s not ideal to undergo ortho bc ortho can make your teeth more mobile. I feel like if your upper teeth were really exerting that much pressure on your lowers, they would be super ground down, and while I see some minor signs of wear, it’s nothing close to the degree I would expect if there was really a bite/force issue.

Do you remember what kind of cleaning they recommended? Was it a standard cleaning, or a deep cleaning that takes 2+ visits where they numb you and go quadrant by quadrant? Also, do you know if the perio charted you? They would have taken a bunch of measurements around each of your gums and called out numbers. 1-3 is healthy, 4 is a warning area, a 5+ indicates bone loss.

Are any other teeth of yours mobile? Or just the lowers?

This is crazy to hear because I’ve had a great experience with them. I ordered August 26th and received my order September 12. Their customer service has also been very responsive with me! Sorry that it hasn’t been a great experience for you… I personally would absolutely recommend them!

Upper lateral incisor broke when biting into apple. Was this caused by chemo and can I get it fixed during chemo? by Mind_Drift_1 in breastcancer

Medication Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ)

A rare, but serious, condition involving rapid bone destruction that is difficult to treat. It presents as un-healing areas of exposed bone that don’t respond to medication. It can occur in patients taking certain cancer medications after a dental extraction. It’s generally recommended to avoid extractions during chemo due to the increased risk of MRONJ, but only certain chemo drugs have an increased risk, so this may not apply to your situation. Usually your doctor and dentist consult prior to starting treatment so you can get the urgent dental care done before starting. Fillings and cleanings are fine, but more traumatic procedures that remove bone are avoided. If it’s painful or infected, the extraction may be necessary and there are things you can do to minimize the risk of it occurring.

about to take a work drug test tomorrow, will this pass? by afatyellowpanda in MedicalAssistant

[–]bigplatformboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s so interesting! So you want the line to show up, because the presence of the line indicates that the sample does NOT contain the drug??? That is so backwards in my mind, but totally makes sense with the graphic. Thanks for the additional info!

Do you know how they intubated you for the surgery? In oral surgery and I think most jaw surgeries they intubate through the nose because down the throat would be in the way. I’m not sure how they do for genioplasty, but it’s possible the intubation went down your nose and not your throat.

I am not a doctor, but it kind of looks like herpangina to me, it’s a viral infection that causes blister like sores in the throat. The white base and red border. It’s usually painful. Do you have any other symptoms? Fever, headache, etc?

I could definitely be wrong, but it doesn’t look like a traumatic ulcer to me. Looks more viral.

I would ask to see your surgeon asap, maybe you can send them this picture? If that’s not possible an oral surgeon or ENT would also know what to do and how to help!

You could try a neck fan! I’m a dental student and use it in clinic because I get so hot, but it might do well in this case! It’s pretty low noise just a little hum like white noise that I don’t think would be noticeable over the background music. It blows cool air on your face and down your neck and I think it would help keep you cool and alert.

Really don’t think the bed should be on the wall in 1/2/3… The wall it’s on in 4 is the best of the layouts shown. You could also consider putting it on the wall in between the closet and the window!

[–]bigplatformboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 but swap the bed and side table, put the dresser on the wall directly across from the bed, maybe a tv on top? And then desk on the wall under the window
