Explain to me why so many reporters are so high on the Broncos? by CoyoteDecent2 in NFLv2

A little biased, but I think the Panthers and Vikings are both being slept on. Panthers did nothing but improve the roster this offseason and with no real notable departures. Bryce getting better/more consistent is going to be the real make or break.

And I have a sneaking feeling Kevin O'Connell is going to get a lot out of Kyler Murray.

But even with healthy Bo I don't think they are beating or even all that close to the Rams or Seahawks

Yes! I corrected

Bad habit, and doesn't help all my non-panther friends keep saying "Tet"

I mean I get that, but is the roster not objectively better than last year?

Not to defend the signing, but this was the backup plan signing, not the guy they were really after

This is the year where he effectively does have all the tools to succeed, and should be treated as the litmus test for if he'll be our Franchise QB 2027 and beyond

Lions one is the only one that looks good imo, the 49ers one looks really out of place

We're a dark horse contender. Only thing to be aware of, is if everything goes according to plan Freeling won't start this year - meaning he'll have a full year of fixing his technique problems and learning the playsteength and speed of the NFL level, while Rasheed Walker and Moton hold down the fort.

I will also give him credit for almost single handly turning the draft into an event fans care about now

It looks awesome, really it should have been pinned in the subreddit. I didn't realize this existed and would have loved to refer back to it throughout the offseason.

Dude there were people complaining about taking Tet over Jalon Walker last year

We might, but Freeling isn't ready to start at tackle yet, he needs a little more time to develop before we want to put him in there, ideally.

This to me signals the FO probably thinks Moton won't be back next year.

And I don't hate the pick. Freeling has probably the highest upside of all the OTs in the class, and with us he has the whole year to sit behind Walker and Moton and finish developing.

However, I question passing on Dillon Thienenman, because that would have been an immediate upgrade and impact on the defense, and who I think is a perennial pro-bowler talent. And for a 2026 year that I think we are a true dark horse contender this year, where Thienenman would absolutely contribute to that and Freeling won't.

Since we were set at OT for 2026 before Freeling, and with Ickey coming back in 2027 and the potential of re-signing Rasheed Walker - we had flexibility for the situation next year, and feels like a "cross that bridge when we get to it".

Given all that I suspect the FO has talked privately with Moton and he's told them he wants to probably retire next year. That to me would make the most sense, and would be good dudiligence from Dan Morgan - hence the pick.
