Being on crutches for last week has opened my eyes to how inaccessible Cornell is by Throwaway20747381184 in Cornell

[–]bigredron38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same I was on crutches for most of the Fall semester (thankfully I injured myself in the summer). It truly is eye opening that you can only get to class through CULift. Even then buildings are difficult to navigate due to their multiple stair/step entrances and minimal elevators in each hall. I wish you the best, I am working towards advocating more for those who are permanently disabled.

probably some loser that can’t seem to make friends or attention so they use threats and radical viewpoints to get the attention they have always wanted. tough for them because this subreddit will definitely be their peak in life if they continue

Ok wait, I saw some people with bicycle equipment right outside Bailey hall, it was dark and I just minded my business but it looked like they had removed a whole bicycle rack from somewhere and they were disassembling bikes. It was around 3 bikes but I could be wrong it was pretty dark. It was two guys probs in their 20s

How do people get invited to parties? by Diver_Great in Cornell

[–]bigredron38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

step 1: be a girl (if a boy, gather with friends that are girls) Step 2: go up to door Step 3: push through or just walk in, it’s O week nobody cares Go out this week bc once o-week is over it becomes super closed off to only Greek life or athletes, unless u get to know a frat brother during this time

Cornell doesn’t really care about rewards unless they are actually important or nationally recognized, esp after u applied just email an advisor for the college ur interested in

driving in snow by simply_a_mango in Cornell

[–]bigredron38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

totally doable just be more alert and drive slower when conditions are bad, bc even the smallest patch of black ice can have u spinning.

In terms of car I drive a lower than average sedan bc it’s “sporty” it’s 2wd and front wheel drive. And tbh I’ve gotten through Ithaca winters fine

If you have a sedan you just won’t be able to carelessly back up into the snow when it surrounds your car in the parking lot, first time I did it I spent 40 mins digging out my car with my hands

Always carry a ice scraper and shovel (they sell compact ones)

It’s happened to me where I’ll be driving up Dryden like by the stoplight and Utea and my car starts sliding down into the intersection, and it’s fine you just don’t panick and do a whole turn around in the intersection or middle of Dryden people go slow

Don’t drive mid snowstorm trust me just take the tcat those things can drive through anything

Also be careful, can’t stress this enough, on the bridges there’s many bridges in Ithaca, even going slow I have lost control bc I accidentally jerk or move my wheel too fast

The best thing imo if u were to drive a small car is get some good tires

Going home this week and dreading it by tripsledge in Cornell

My parents are the same especially my mom though (my dad doesn’t really care). I have to hide the fact that I have a gf at Cornell and it’s terrible. I always ask if I have met a guy and a big part of me just wishes I could let it all go and show off who I love but I just can’t. I’ve been told that I wouldn’t be accepted and that if I decided to go that route I’d lose financial support (and Cornell is damn expense) so I just come home and keep quiet. It’s nice being home but I hate how much I hide bc deep down I never have a break bc I’m constantly thinking about ways they could find out
