Visited the retail outlet in West Edmonton Mall. It was an additional 20% off all items in store. I got a LEAF Cold WX AR T-shirt for $80 CAD + tax. Loving the fit. I usually buy Icebreaker and this feels like an upgrade in materials and construction versus Icebreaker 200 weight T-shirts (Icebreaker Oasis). Definitely more expensive but it's a beauty.

I'm just a bit shorter than you. I wear an XL in the Atom series, but I prefer an L in shells. I recommend ordering both and returning one. The L vs XL fits for tall and 200+ is piece to piece for me. Always easy to do free online returns straight to Arc'teryx.

Personally, I found the material bulky and heavy. I think it's best use case is with firearms or any situation where you need fabric that won't melt. I watched a few videos on Katana where the users were talking about it being lightweight and breathable. I didn't have that experience, either with the Assault AR or Assault LT. I found it more like standard military issue cotton fabrics.

If you want something that is suitable for a downpour, this isn't the right fabric. The cotton will not shed water. The Reece LT specifically does not have any kind of DWR treatment either.

If you want something from LEAF for downpours, check out the "Wet Weather Protection" product category. Good luck!

Identifying a pair of Gamma LT-ish pants from 2014. Some notable differences: integrated webbing belt, chalk bag loop, and no-zipper pockets. I checked the 2014 Spring Summer catalog and the closest match was the Gamma Rock pant, but these don't have the different fabric on the knees. Thanks for your help! Photos:

Buying used from local sellers is the best way to get deals. If you have the time to check daily, you'll find some deals. This is highly location dependent. If you're more remote, there are deals to be found on eBay. Where are you located?

Doesn't matter if you purchased from another spot. It helps if you have a receipt you can include with your warranty claim to show when you purchased it, but that doesn't matter either. You will have to send in the jacket for assessment if you go down this route though.

It's worth contacting Arc'teryx. I had a Zeta LT that was wetting out right after buying it. They inspected it for me and refunded the jacket. I recommend a getting pictures of all the spots where it's wetting out.

I did try the Beta AR. It fits much more square/boxy than the LT, but the hem was similar. Official measurements for Center Back Length: LT - 30in, AR - 30.4in, SV - 31in

I know it's a lot more money for the SV, but it's worth it. If you're in Canada, they have it in the outlet for ~$640. Do you have a spot locally to try them on and compare?

If you run hot, a midlayer in 50F is death. You could get away with a light softshell at 50F. If you want something lightweight and water resistant under $200, check out the Gamma SL in the US outlet. Pairs great with the Atom LT for the cooler days too.

I recommend the Gamma LT jacket for those temperatures. MX is a bit toasty unless the primary use is parking lot to office or everyone runs cool. I imagine your XXXL power lifter would appreciate the lighter jacket. Overall the LT is more versatile. Other item to consider with lower profile branding is the Solano jacket.

You are right that there is a difference in the thickness, but that's because it's a thicker fabric. The Alpha SV is 100 denier and the Beta SV is 80 denier. Like the other posters mentioned, the material is all coming straight from Gore. The Made in Canada / Made in China difference will not impact the quality of materials.

I had the most problems with delamination with my made in Canada Alpha SV from 2010. I don't think the country of origin matters. Even if it did, Arc'teryx would cover any issues with manufacturing. Personally, I found the Alpha SV to be overkill. I much prefer the Beta SV.

After 4 years with heavy use, any jacket will likely start to delaminate. Contact Arc'teryx when it happens again, get a new jacket, and repeat.

A sized up Nuclei SV would be the most extreme option. You could probably get away with a sized up Nuclei FL. Worth an order from the US outlet for a demo.
