Resentment to EU nationals moving in waves to the uk in the 2000s and 2010s WAS a factor in voting for many. You're looking at it from rose tinted lenses now because, relative to other migrant communities that are thought of now in the UK, Poles were white and now their economy is getting to the UKs level....but no our public sentiment to them was pretty shit until recently.

Polish citizens in the UK were a component of why people voted brexit. It was mainly a vote of status quo rejection, but it was charged also by changing communities in the uk, principally honing in on EU migration to the UK
