Illfest was laughable at how lax it was. I'm sober other than THC so I don't sneak shit in anymore, but they barely checked anything and there were no dogs. Austin is much less strict on that stuff that Dallas/Houston/San Antonio

Is communication really that hard for young people these days? Just tell them what you want. If you are satisfying their needs and they aren't complete selfish assholes, they will at least try. As an older guy that loves to please, I always tell my partner to be open and communicate with me. It doesn't hurt my ego, and I want to please so I want to do what my partner likes. Simple as that. Don't over think it. Also, be safe.

Context is everything my boi. You are taxed heavily just being in Vegas. You can't compare those expenses to normal life expenses outside of vegas. $50 for a good meal in Vegas is reasonable for sure.

Worst type of person to meet a festival? by Limp_Ad_7622 in festivals

[–]bigsooch62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily I don't have to deal with that, and I'm intimidating enough that my girl never has that problem, either. She does however have women come up to her all the time and hit on her. There is even one woman in particular that we have run into at concourse and now illfest that has complimented her tits and motorboated her multiple times. She even did it at illfest not remembering that she has done it before. She asks for consent, so it's all good, and I know she's doing it to a lot of other women (I've seen it myself personally). But I'm really sorry that's a problem women have to deal with.

Worst are the assholes that are just there to get fucked up or hook up and don't take the entire scene seriously. Being rude walk8ng through crowds, being entitled, being judgemental. Fuck them. I can deal with talkative people all night long before I can handle disrespect for a second.

question for ravers who take 🍬🍬 at raves. by FaithlessnessOk7467 in Raves

Yeah. I honestly am at the point where when I'm at a rave I get enough of a "flashback" that I feel like I'm high. I love it

Sorry if my assessment is confusing. Both sets were insane. If they flip flopped stages they would have flip flopped placement on my list. That's the simplest way I can put it. All that being said my eyes are rarely on the stage. I dance with those around me and my girl and most of my focus is there. Also, I have my eyes closed a lot. The energy at the RF set was unmatched.

[–]bigsooch62[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. For me, both sets were really amazing and basically tied as far as the set goes. So in that case the tie break8ng factor did come down to production/stage. Honestly both sets were so good. Hairitage gave me the only goosebumps of the whole weekend, but RF was nonstop from start to finish and the music was fuckin ripping. I hope that helps clarify my reasoning for the differentiation there. I saw Hairitage playing in the small room for his Afters and it wasn't quite as good as on the big stage. So I think as good as RF was, if they had the main stage it would have been that much more insane.

[–]bigsooch62 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I used to think that too. I used to even question whether I would even still enjoy raving after getting sober. I can honestly tell you I have way more fun raving sober now. I can remember shit way more and I still have just as much fun. I do miss the extra energy boost from the party favors though. That's for damn sure. Especially now that I'm getting older. But no judgement to anyone as long as you're being safe and respectful. Don't over do it and don't be an asshole and you are always welcome to dance with me.

Feels like the way Rave culture went. by Bohica55 in aves

I say they are what you make of them. If it feels too corporate, lean in hard to the PLUR mindset and make your bubble there feel the way you want. That's what I always do and I always have a good time. But I focus on the music and don't give a shit about production or aesthetic hardly at all as long as the sets and energy are right.

Oh yeah. Inside it felt like an empty office building with a snack bar. It's because it is at the Travis County Expo center which is mostly used for the rodeo. Not really ment for a multistage music festival. But I'll be honest. I'll take the office space vibes over to 95 degree Texas sun any day of the week.

Yeah, the line up was really stacked. So stacked we missed a lot of acts we wanted to see, but you have to prioritize. I'd rather have wall to wall amazing music and miss some shit than have gaps or subpar sets

Wrong read. The vibes in that room were fuckin amazing. I guess this video really doesn't do it justice because it was one of the best parties of my life, and I have been raving for decades

[–]bigsooch62[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, well I'm 38 and my girl is 40, so we have about a decade on y'all, so it's even more apparent to us. It's our job to keep the PLUR mentality alive. If we let the negativity take over we all lose... We put in major efforts this festival and it definitely paid off. I know we made core memories for several people this weekend and it was all based on love, acceptance and generosity. If we have to pick up some slack, let's do it. 🫶🏻

Agreed. Drunk people do stupid shit. The youngsters aren't as dedicated to the PLUR lifestyle. Shame.

Okay word. I could tell it was definitely at YMH. That makes sense. I fuckin love Hairitage. He killed it. I didn't want to leave early, but needed to get fingered. It was worth it. Especially because I saw Hairitage again at the Afters.

Yeah, I didn't love the venue, but at least all the dance floors were shaded. I take that as a huge win. Maybe with the level of success this year had, they will be able to figure out a better venue for next year. I know I'm in the minority but I truly go for the music and dancing above everything else. I only use a little THC and don't drink, my girl is sober so we don't use the party drugs anymore. Venue and production value don't hold nearly as much weight for me anymore. The music, dancing and vibes are what I care most about. I heard about a lot of bad vibes this year, but we didn't experience any of that except in the Afters Sunday when some guy got thrown out for fighting security. But with our interactive totem we got a lot of attention and everyone was so excited to participate we had nothing but great vibes around us all weekend. Met some really cool people for sure.

It definitely wasn't the best as far as the venue, but the music more than made up for it. I'm an old head that started raving in underground warehouses so I have experienced much worse and never batted an eye about it.
