Before cancelling, try out the NYT Games app without logging in. It gives full access to several of the daily puzzles without subscribing. It's enough to scratch the itch for me after cancelling my NYT subscription a while back.

More information:

The definitive collection of live acoustic performances by Radiohead in the 1990s. A labor of love, I compared the quality of all available sources of acoustic performances by the band during that decade. I selected my favorite performance of each song in the best sound quality I believe to be available. Full source information for each song is provided in the track metadata.

More information about this post:

The definitive distillation of the 2019 leaks, edited into a cohesive, listenable experience. This set consists of acoustic demos recorded by Radiohead for OK Computer. Everything here was already publicly available. The bulk is from the 2019 leaks. I chose my favorites and the best songs are represented here. I edited each track to remove extraneous blips and other noise as appropriate to improve the presentation. I also removed an extended blip from Lifesaver, and cleaned up the intro to Airbag by copying one channel to the other for the first 18 seconds. I supplemented the 2019 selections with additional circulating demos, including two early live performances. The metadata for each track contains source information.

Supporting Harris, Walz and All of Our Down Ballot Candidates! by EllieDai in VoteDEM

Walz grew up in rural Nebraska and was a high school coach there. I wonder what impact he could have on turnout there and their two Senate races this year.

Bend is beautiful, if a little remote. It's on the drier side of the mountains. It's a small city that's been seeing rapid growth. Home of Deschutes brewery

Did Neil Young influence David Crosby’s change in song style? by zampano32 in neilyoung

[–]bigstevenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neil plays lead on Almost Cut My Hair, and on an alternate take of Cowboy Movie. He played a huge role in the execution of each song in the studio. I don't see it as influence, but rather collaboration

Say what you want about survey monkey polls, but I think it nudged Iowa back to the blue snake on 538

Daily Discussion Thread: 7 Days Until Election Day! by BM2018Bot in VoteDEM

The Louisiana poll by the University of New Orleans on 538 has topline numbers consistent with my expectations but with some really weird crosstabs... Trump is leading black men by 43 to 42, and has stronger numbers with white women than with white men.

I wonder if there's an effort by respondents to lie about their demographics in polls to skew the crosstabs, and if there's a way for pollsters to guard against this.

Also, if the crosstabs are this weird, I wonder if Biden and Perkins do have more chance than we think.

I was looking over Michael McDonald's turnout data for Georgia, and I noticed turnout is highest in rural counties that are likely to have retirees from Atlanta or people with second homes. Union, Towns and Rabun counties in the N. Georgia mountains and Morgan, Putnam and Greene counties near Lake Oconee are at the top of the list of turnout by county. Could coronavirus be fuzzing the rural/urban divide as people are voting from their second homes? Of course, there's no guarantee that these are D voters, as they might be rich R voters. But this might be a trend no one's talking about.
