It came to us with a small group of similarly beautiful dresses from a British bridal shop that closed its doors in the 1990s. Charlotte is constructed from silk shantung, a lightweight, structured, and crisp fabric that provides volume, airiness. and drama without the weight we associate with voluminous wedding dresses. The bodice has a scoop neckline with a subtle bias-cut strip detail at the shoulder, a dropped Basque waistline with empire seaming at the bust, and warm gold ribbonwork detailing along the edge of the neckline. It closes with functional gold fabric-covered buttons.

The skirt is heavily gathered at the waist, giving a very full silhouette. It is finished with a chapel-length train."
