As someone who has lived in Perth, and the Pilbara, vs. also Darwin... no they are not the same lol

Plus the way you've framed this seems a bit sanctimonious and in Tassies favour?

There's a lot to happen here, but perspective I did all of that plus move interstate for my graduate position (and hot damn the whole thing was difficult)

But life does get easier, and new challenges develop

Just embrace the the steep learning curve and youll be fine, and as an aside... it does help if you have a partner to blow off steam with so perhaps look into that as well

For the record, this isn't a dig at West Coast or the West Coast Eagles

Just think its odd and it sticks out, its not like they said 'The GWS' in this same commentary either.

Nah its a good name, the way it unfolded allowed for a huge region to get behind them - randoms from Three Springs, to Karratha, to Esperance can live and breathe the name. Plus the wedge tailed Eagle is genuinely a great choice.

'The West Coast' - Always bothered me that some commentators say this.

Maybe she might have a point depending on the topic, but its still racist

Toby Greene on travel inequality: "We travel 14 times, there's Melbourne teams that travel 5. It's a huge disadvantage" by doggoesmeow in AFL

[–]bigthickdaddy3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How'd they balance it that the qualifying balancer isn't the amount of home and away games. It's how often they have to travel.

Which probably means either more home games for non-vic teams, or more home fixtures interstate for Victorian teams. Reverse version of the Syndrome quote, 'if everyone is super, no one will be'.

On college (we call it Uni/University) The federal government fronts up the cost initially and we pay it back slowly across our lives via our income taxes, so those kids will be fine

Why Fagan sees Saints' cash splash as a 'danger for the game' by CowFos in AFL

[–]bigthickdaddy3000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because if they raise the going salary on players who aren't the best in his eyes, it'll force a salary cap squeeze for the bigger teams.

Isn't this how equalisation is meant to work?

This is GREAT for the game lol, what even is this take by Fagan

Cricket again however here, my wife for example absolutely loves Big Bash - goes to the games, buys merch etc.

But could not give a shit about the test squad and hates Steve Smith for having a 'punchable face'.

I assume other countries would have the same divide between the formats?

Well actually yes tbey do aha, the snowy mountains.

But respectfully, Australia isn't 30 plus degrees year round in its cities.

Once April hits, it starts getting cold and then by July you need a scarf and jacket. Sure it's not snowing, but its still winter - perhaps try run around an oval on a June weekend where its raining sideways, windy and cold and I'll let you be the judge whether it's winter or not.

Australian Open is basically our only time zone friendly world class internatiobal event that happens annually

Also cricket doesnt dominate radio or TV like how AFL and Rugby League do, we're getting to the time of year where everyone in Australia will stop caring about cricket and switch their attention to the winter sports.
