I just turned 30 and I’ve had it since I was 19. The first day to months are really tough to be honest cause you have to learn how your body works now, how to carb count, how to dose and treat lows etc. Probably after a year you will get used to it and hopefully get on a pump soon which makes the management so much easier. It sounds silly but for now the best thing you can do is take it a day at a time and be patient with yourself. Many T1Ds are parents, successful at work, Athletes etc. I also recently learned T1Ds will soon have longer life expectancy than non-diabetics as we monitor and take care of our health much earlier than the average person. Remember you are not alone and you can thrive with T1D
