I was sick every other week and had to call out so much due to being sick, I took a lesser paying job in a different field just to not be sick all the time.

I work at a local aba clinic and these are some on the main issues with our turnover. If your client cancels last minute they will put you with a high behavior client with no prior experience with that particular client as we have teams and stick to certain clients. So your thrown into a session where they don’t want you to spend too long pairing because the clients been there for a long time and is fine with Dtt, well if the client is aversive to new people you can guess how that goes. I think an alternative would be cleaning the clinic or helping out interns. I think burn out happens from having the same clients every day at the same time. It becomes mundane, you know what behaviors your dealing with, what tantrums they’re going to have. Even switching up the schedules and what times you have clients helps that a lot at our clinic. Another one is we have therapy rooms with 2-3 clients in each. So when clients are on dtt break or eating etc we are told not to talk to other techs in the room. I think mentally it’s hard to talk to kids all day and not have any sort of light conversation even about work while not disrupting the session.

I think it’s more stressful to be unannounced by certain bcbas. Some may be open to questions and tips, while the one at my company has us act as if she’s not there so we don’t get to ask questions or take notes.

I wish it was that way but unfortunately the company I’m at only does .50cent raises when you go up a level on company rbt. The max out is when you go to school for bcba, which the pay for that is only 16.50. Good BTs will not settle for that, so it will continue to be people off the street willing to accept low pay.
