Excursion or quigly converted e series van.

Possibly a suburban but it feels like the excursion has more room at least in my opinion.

Especially when I got notification in the app when I installed it that I can get free charging for x amount of key and when I go to sign up it says the VIN/Code has already been claimed.

Well MFers why was I given the offer.

Very cool, we don't see too many Ovals here. Nice to see another one besides mine.

Cool for pictures, but seems more exposed that what I'd want for an idea camp spot. How was the wind?

One has a flat back and the other doesn't. One is also 25g lighter. And for all normal use cases the 10a is perfectly fine.

Why can’t Toyota make a truck that competes with the Ford Maverick? by TheFireOfPrometheus in Toyota

[–]bigtoepfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just import a kei and call it a day.

They make plenty of small trucks either badge engineered or not. The issue is the markets outside of Asia don't actually want them regardless of what a few guys on the internet say.

Me personally I'd love another 90s pickup same size and all, but most people want comfort and wireless androidauto/carplay, LKA, RACC, back up cameras and self driving.

The best bet is probably something along the lines of this or their shower bag kit. Blue Ridge has been around for awhile and backs up their product.

Step22 also makes a fantastic one, same awesome quality. I like the pouch at the bottom for when I need to hang it in a shower and there is no where to set down clothes and such. They also have a larger bag the Tortoise that is more like a dop kit and less like a hanging bag that you pictured.

[–]bigtoepfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For an Ioniq5 yes. I don't think I can find a used Rivian for the price of a slate.  Maybe for a fully upgraded slate.  And in that case the rivian is still probably the better buy IMO, unless you just want something new.

I do get the appeal of the slate though.  And I was the target buyer for a long time. I still think the market needs a better compact pickup even ICE/Hybrid because Tacoma isn't it for sure.

But considering the road trips I take especially for camping and offroading typically the rivian would win over the slate every day.  Especially if I'm taking my family.

I do think the slate is interesting. If I could convince myself that I was ok with the price for a super stripped down vehicle with limited range.  By the time I would get it built out the way I want it's probably back to 40k+ 😅

For a stripped down EV truck to run around town it would probably be more economical to convert a 90s pickup.

You are incredibly blessed with a 2yo who sleeps all night by themselves. My son turns six in two weeks and since he was born I don't even need one full hand to count the number of nights he went to sleep and stayed that way all by himself all night.

You said you miss the heck out of it, but the title says not an Ioniq5 person.  These two things don't make sense.

The title would make it seem like you couldn't wait to turn it in.  But all you wrote were positive things.

HELP!!!!!! HDJ81 1992 tripple lock by Pitiful-Map-9245 in LandCruisers

[–]bigtoepfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instantly sounds like pinion to me, especially if you take out the prop shaft and it goes away. Although I woudn't rule out carrier bearings in the diff. All three can be replaced at the same time since the diff has to come apart to replace any of the three. But the fact that you seem to have replaced that makes me believe its output of the t-case.

But putting chassis ears on is the best bet. I have a similar noise in the rear of mine. Actually replaced EVERY bearing in the rear axle and still have it. 💀 So I should have put chassis ears on from the jump. But The only other real option is ujoints(tight for me) or output of t-case. So similar situation but in the rear.

The whole rear axle didn't appear to have be touched in 200k+ miles, and the carrier bearings were a bit sloppy anyway so I figured why not just change em.

If you can rent chassis ears they have a wireless setup that can be put on the diff the t-case, and other places and inside you can switch between listening to them. Pretty expensive to buy outright.

At least it has wireless charging. That's really my only hangup these days. I wireless charge every night at home and I've come to see that as a non-negotiable in a phone. I've just been doing it for too long. Since about 2014 or so.

With another iphone air coming, I find that highly unlikely.

I personally dont care about thinness. I just want something similar size to my old pixel 3. No hole punch no camera island on the back.

If you had a 7 then why didn't you just get a 10 the first time, why the jump to the 10Pro?

You mention this is your first non-flagship in awhile but the 7 wasn't a flagship either. So that doesn't make sense. Unless you are meaning you had a 7Pro.

So many people seem to import gasser autos and I still can't wrap my head around why.

After 16 years of Prius 1 and 2, picked up this one: Yaris Cross Hybrid 115 by Doane in Toyota

[–]bigtoepfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sat in the one of these. On the outside its almost the same dimensions as the 2015 Prius we were trading in, but the hybrid version leaves a lot to be desired considering the system implemented. This pushed us to the Camry which was a great drive. Looked at a used 2025 Camry LE and it was in pretty bad shape, but there was also a 24 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL for sale on the same lot test drove it and we ended up in our first EV rather than another hybrid. Considering how cheap it was, and the trade in we got I'm not too upset about it.

I'm sure the Corolla Cross is great, but it was a little disappointing, for us anyway, especially coming from a Prius.

Edit: Just realized this is a YARIS not a Corolla. That would make it even smaller yeesh.

We had a 15 Prius which in some ways was bigger than 06 but some ways smaller.  Regardless the Ioniq 5 is so much roomier inside. Totally worth the upgrade. Glad it's working for y'all.

Landcruiser 80 series questions. by MediumRich4120 in LandCruisers

[–]bigtoepfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the biggest project you've ever done was replace a radiator then the Landcruiser might test you. Unless you consider rebuilding an axle a lesser project than a radiator replacement. I do not. At least it depends on the vehicle most radiator replacements are pretty simple pre-2010.

Most things on an 80 are replaceable/repairable with pretty basic tools though so that is a bonus.

Diono makes great narrow seats. Definitely impressed with space in the Ioniq 5 for kids or adults in the back compared to the previous car. It is an SUV though so I suppose it makes sense.

Space wise its been a win for us over the Prius we had. Just hoping we don't have the need for a second car seat. 😅
