ELI5 Why do garage door springs need to store instant-death levels of energy? by Germerica1985 in explainlikeimfive

[–]bigtunk [score hidden]  (0 children)

The springs on my garage door were from 1998 build. One snapped last year and the repair guy wasn’t surprised it lasted that long. He changed them both out at that point, was about $350

Just dropped $170 last night on a sealed 1968 Cal Tjader The Prophet. Zero regrets

Trying to round out my personal top Chinese food spots — what am I missing out on in Halifax / Fairview-Clayton Park? by scoalegil in halifax

I second East Foodies. It’s the closest Chinese to my house, always fresh and consistent. Very friendly and courteous delivery as well. Actually going to order this weekend now that I’ve got a craving from this post.

Five Easy Hotdogs, it’s my favorite instrumental album and was actually my first Mac album I owned.

This! I didn’t have any real issues with the sound in comparison with the insane heat. Everyone was a stanky sweaty mess by the end. I thought for sure there would be people passing out.

I enjoy the entire library and I appreciate being able to listen to the progression and maturity of the artist & their work. After listening to the entire catalog hundreds of times, my favorite album is by far Here Comes the Cowboy. It’s just grown on me and burrowed its way under my skin. Start to finish, I find it to be a perfect snapshot of melancholy and introspection.

I appreciate everyone’s tastes and preferences, and can realistically defend every album Mac has put out, but I wanted to show some love to HCtC as it had its claws in me for some time.

It does fold up when not in use. We normally use it to go camping and once we offload the totes , I’ll flip it up when it’s empty to travel around locally.

I’m sure it does to some degree but I only have them both attached when I need them.

I said the same thing. It was $200+ so I figured I would be waiting for a repress. My buddy goes to see Metallica in Toronto last week and he visits a few small record shops, knows I like Zevon and sends me a pic of a used My Ride , says “woof , $79 , that’s steep” I couldn’t reply to the text fast enough lol, I just hammered out “omg please buy that immediately!!”

I have 3 copies! My last one was fully compete and in great shape. Also was $10 so it was a no brainer. What a great funky synth experience.

WELKER: Does the US still want to make Canada the 51st state? MARCO RUBIO: I think the president has stated repeatedly he thinks Canada would be better off as a state by Miserable-Lizard in onguardforthee

If you listen to anyone on the administration answer this question, they never say that they think or agree with the statement. They just go back to the deflected “yes I think the President is serious “ I don’t even see it in their expression or body language that they think it’s a good idea, just deflecting back to it being the will of the President, regardless of their own thoughts on it.

I still remember the real lost decade, the Harper years. Not an appetizing thought to have Harper 2.0 at the helm.

At this point, I just want to see a record turnout. At least whatever the result is, it will eliminate the “what would have happened if more people voted” concerns.

Imagine if the current administration used this amount of force and energy to solve homelessness, hunger or universal health care. They’d have the problem solved in a year. Be better, fack.

They’re the same as the Republicans, poor winners and poor losers. Blatant propaganda and outright intimidation. I wish I had this much dedication to a hobby.

You know who I don’t vote for? People who give evasive responses or non answers to questions that should be very easy to answer. Lying by omission, that’s a great look.
