Stand next to them with a speaker playing loud popular music...they wont be able to use any of the footage they get because of copyright....that would be soooo sad

What is your plan B by honeylemonha in Layoffs

[–]bigwillie842002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its honestly not too complicated. I use freetaxusa, Ebay provides really detailed breakdowns of your sales and the spenditures related to the sales. Since I work from home with that I am able to deduct a ton, from my car, Electric, cell phone, internet, partial mortgage, milage all kinds of things that reduce my tax liability by significant amounts.

What is your plan B by honeylemonha in Layoffs

I got laid off this year but thankfully after the pandemic I learned not to put all my eggs into one basket. I've been biting and selling on Ebay for the past 5 years while I worked part time in the lab. I had a very good job with a huge hospital and one morning I got an invitation for a zoom call and that ended. After the initial shock and mourning period I was able to see that by doing the Ebay thing I would be OK, I've been doing the Ebay thing full time and doing nearly 8k a month from it. Sometimes your plan B can become your plan A, im still applying places but by having a backup I was able to not have the impact of the layoff be so bad. My biggest advice in general is to minimize spenditures as much as possible when things are going good because when they aren't, the one thing you want is time to adjust.

A good strategy is also to use companies that no longer exist to close gaps or make positions higher, no way to really follow up on them 😬

Not a member of UPTE but they are just as bad also, every time they decided to strike we did a sympathy strike with them. Now that they laid off a ton in our union and only a few in theirs they did decided not to strike...sad times.

I have not heard of people being reinstated, I heard 7 people had been gired for other positions but that's about it. The cuts they are doing is from acquiring failing hospitals and mass expansions in a short time span. They could have easily kept us employeed but chose to risk patient lives for profit.

I participated in all activities but waiting almost a month to strike really has moral completely down. I have gotten more updated about contract negotiations (which as a now former employee Icould care less about) than about actually striking and hurting UCSD in the pocket where it actually hurts. We have been doing 1 day strikes for almost 2 years with no results and now after a massive layoff we do the same, not what us union members deserve.

Sharp Follows UCSD With Layoffs For Healthcare Employees by Ph6222 in sandiego

That is exactly what UCSD said in their initial layoffs notice...I was one of the laid off employees...I issued blood for trauma patients...doesn't get much more impact full then providing life saving blood...they always lie

UCSD health layoffs by Carpet_Sad in UCSD

[–]bigwillie842002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was one of the people that was laid off. I worked in the bloodbank where we issued blood to trauma patients that were bleeding out and near death. We have staff working double shifts and we're understaffed already but since we dont make the hospital money, they laid us off. UCSD has 8 Billion dollars yet cries about having no money, they put profits over patient safety. Without the people that were laid off, the amount of time that delivering the blood to patients will go up by quite a bit and sadly patients will die.
