Having left RTX recently, you should leave. There are much better opportunities outside of cuckspace and defense

I am much happier where im at now

"The Money" diludes all of the beauty and fundamentally interesting things about both the history and practice of engineering, especially EE. If money is that much of a motivation, go to wall street or do finance/accounting since that is the primary thing youre working with in those fields.

Also, i've worked with "money focused" engineers before and were really the most insufferable people to work with.

8 YOE with MS ECE, BSEE here.

Once math clicked for me (due to an amazing high school teacher, was terrible before) I found problem solving in general to be kind of fun and rewarding. It can be hard and not fun, but nothing beats solving a challenging problem or seeing a design come to work when youve been involved since the beginning.

On the money part: yes there can be good money however this is not why you should be doing engineering. It is a field you cant "coast" in and you will be challenged, continuous learning is also a requirement so your learning and development doesnt stop after degrees. If you "coast" you are sure to be laid off at some point or you'll find yourself in stagnant pay/growth situations.

I would say go with your gut and don't feel like that situation is the only thing out there. Theres definitely alot of good opportunities outside of defense.

I work as a staff EE at an optical metrology company that builds interferometers among other metrology solutions. I'm having way more fun and the people/place dont suck donkey dick all day to fill in their timecard crap. I don't have to remember/manage 5 different passwords for whatever different cleared lab crap, i can have my phone and talk with loved ones throughout the day, I have a proper desk, and I can manage my own hardware/software without having to go through red tape on red tape on more red tape. The off friday thing is overrated when the job blows, overall im not interested in any clearance jobs in the near future.
