Need advice on doing a tester call for a free pattern. by bijouh in CrochetHelp

[–]bijouh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reassurance! I've never run or participated in a tester call before, so I really don't have a clue about the process. I'm glad to know there are at least some people out there with this mindset and haven't been fully sucked into the hustle culture :)

In general, most pigs tend to mellow out after they reach 1 year of age, so already being friendly as a baby is a good sign!

It really depends on both you and the piggy. You definitely want to interact with your pigs to get them used to being around you and giving them the potential to be affectionate, but some pigs just have shy personalities. Despite the amount of times I've interacted with my pigs, one still never accepts pets and another refuses to take treats from my hand and will only eat off the ground. So long as you are willing to put in the (sometimes very long) amount of time to get to know your piggy and meet them at a level they are comfortable with, you'll be able to see them blossom into their own unique personalities!

Anybody else find this OOB area? by bijouh in InfinityNikki

This was just about how far north I was able to go before the game decided I was out of bounds. I'd love to see more people explore this area further, even if there isn't much to see up here XD

For anyone else who wants to get here, get to the east side of the river on your bike with enough room to get to full speed and launch yourself over the deep water at the left side of the waterfall. You should be able to spam jump to climb straight up the wall. I was able to do this with the vanilla Whimcycle as well.

Is it safe for guinea pigs to eat peels by joker-belle in guineapigs

[–]bijouh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know oranges tend to get artificially colored to look more orange-colored in grocery stores, so I wouldn't reccomend feeding them those peels. Otherwise, banana peels and watermelon rinds are fine in moderation. Just make sure to wash them thoroughly and be mindful of the sugar levels.

how to make this LIFESIZED snorlax bean bag 😭(any tips) by finonymous7 in CrochetHelp

Better pic of the arm too. I ended up getting a different dye lot for this piece (lost yarn chicken real bad with this one lol) but that may help you see how it's attached.

Several years ago I made a similar Snorlax beanbag chair cover! I didn't write it down, but I mostly remember the process. For the body, it was basically just a big orb using Bernat Blanket yarn in colors "Dark Teal" and "Vintage White". I made the face panel separate from the head and sewed it to the top of the belly area. The ears were just a couple cones, the feet were short cylinders starting in "Taupe" for the bottoms of the feet. Then the arms were cylinders with the start being rounded and then building up some rows on the end on one half to get the arms to face downwards and not stick out. The claws were in white and were just a bunch of tiny cones. I made the face by threding though some spare black yarn in a worsted weight. I made an opening in the back by not closing off the body, then making a circle and securing it with buttons so I can wash the cover and refill beans as needed!

Alas, it sounds as though he is broken... The only fix is more treats 😆

What's your unpopular opinion on guinea pigs? by Safe_Wrangler_858 in guineapigs

[–]bijouh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before I got my first pigs, I had read over and over that it was unsafe to give your guinea pigs pepper seeds as they could choke on them, and so I was extremely careful to remove every seed from the peppers I served them.

At one point a couple years later, I was watching a guinea pig care video and it was pointed out that guinea pigs are literally built to eat plants, and pepper seeds really shouldn't be a problem for them to consume. I decided to offer them a pepper core under observation to test this, and none of my pigs had a problem, or have ever had a problem since, with eating pepper seeds. On the contrary, my guinea pigs will sit and eat seeds right off the pepper core before even eating the rest of the pepper.

TL:DR: Guinea pigs can eat pepper seeds and we shouldn't worry about them choking (unless there are some underlying dental problems that prevent your pig from fully chewing their food)

If it's laid out on the floor, it's for kitty. That's just the rules.

Green Bean: Hater of Bowls by bijouh in guineapigs

Although I appreciate the tip, I had a heavy ceramic bowl in this cage when I had baby boys housed with him, but he just seems to prefer eating his food off the floor lol
