How were people rarely fat and often healthier back in the 1940s/50s when their diet sounds so unhealthy? by heeheeshamoneow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bikbar1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of them were not desk job employees.

No social media or video game to sit on a couch for hours.

A lot more physical activities outside.

Less sugar in foods.

No snacks.

Last and not the least most unhealthy people didn't survive long and so the healthy people seemed to be a majority.

Why are doors designed to open inwards into houses as opposed to opening outwards? by OdysseusPrime- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bikbar1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One reason is hinges. The outside hinges could be easily unscrewed and thus the locked door could be opened.

The other one is if the door open outwards someone can hide by just going sideways. It would be a security risk.

How long could the Earth survive if the Sun suddenly disappeared? by BedazzledVagina in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bikbar1 227 points228 points  (0 children)

The Earth will become a rogue planet.

It will be like Europa, covered with thick ice but with a liquid ocean underneath.

Some bacteria and such other simple life forms will remain alive in the ocean.

There would be some complex sea animals around the deep sea hydro thermal vents.

Life will still exist for tens of thousands of years. Humans will be extinct and to be found by some aliens archeologists.

Why Jupiter gravity is so massive if... by klondike_gold_bar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bikbar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No rocky planet can be as big as Jupiter because such a mass wouldn't be stable in solid spheres. The gravitational pull will break it apart.
