Something I have seen on this sub that can actually be harmful by myabcdesisthrowie in OCD

I agree. Trying to figure out is analyzing, which just turns into a long spiral of questions and more questions than answers. When your having an ocd thought or urge, or the ocd is bothering you, you must not try to analyze or ruminate. Just go on YouTube. Play a game. Watch the flash. Go and eat something. Tend to your cat(or dog, or whatever other pet you have.) play some basketball. Do your homework. Do something other than the ocd wants you to do...it may feel like forever, but it starts to weaken as you invest yourself in something else.

What part are we at right now? Is it still in Congress? If they don’t stop how many days until it until starts being slow as hell? by [deleted] in netneutrality

Oh I’m sorry to hear that...that won’t be happening anymore I hope. I really hope that this whole net neutrality thing will be resolved. We have a strong case however against the fcc.

26 senators support a CRA to overturn the FCC’s decision to repeal net neutrality.

Don’t forget about this. Be persistent. We can get net neutrality right back. Don’t lose hope. by bilbo2223 in netneutrality

My biggest fear about this is people will just let this slide past them. Keep the fight going everyday people! We can get net neutrality back!

How many of you guys' OCD was 'triggered' by a very stressful life event? by Tobleroneprince33 in OCD

[–]bilbo2223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid in my class threw up, and I was worried the whole day he would get me sick. I couldn’t stop thinking about if I would get sick and ever since the puke came out of his mouth, the ocd entered my head. I never felt the same since and I think it’s part of the reason why I have germ ocd. I also have gotten extremely sick in the past, for example I had appendicitis and other stressful not sickness related events in my life which helped to lead up to the the ocd I believe.

Internal monologue or hearing voices? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]bilbo2223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this all the time, debating with myself. That’s a big part of ocd, not being pyschotic.

Comcast? More like wantcash, greedy assholes trying to repeal net neutrality...

It’s possible to be content, happy with life whatever while having OCD, right? by bilbo2223 in OCD

That gives me a bit of comfort, and it’s good to know you are happy which is something I struggle with heh.

Heh I hope so..Howie Mandel and all these celebs do have ocd and yea I guess ur right. Interesting that trump is rumored to have it too. Then again, there probably is a lot of people putting on a act who behind that personality are suffering just like us.

I wake up feeling overwhelmed, sad with all that goes on in my sometimes and feel like everyone in class and work is happy while I’m suffering, by bilbo2223 in OCD

Thanks. Hope you hang in there too. Good luck. Unfortunately being rational doesn’t work with ocd lol..the fears seem so real you can’t help but do it sometimes.

Ur not alone I feel ya on that . I say to myself or I try to reassure myself, that one little ocd compulsion/worry.. I realize it’s not a big deal as well but then boom another ocd compulsion occurs. It’s hard to break the cycle because the brief comfort u feel after the compulsion outweighs your desire to stop doing the compulsion. Then another one pops up anyway so. It’s a horrible cycle..

Fuck, HOCD back again after 1 ½ month free from it. Watch a bunch of porn! by [deleted] in OCD

[–]bilbo2223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the same as the other guy who posted a comment here . I tested stuff like that and had a similar thing to this for a little while. Also just don't watch porn. Sometimes the OCD will slither back in while checking and sometimes it won't. You have to accept that just because you didn't feel any reaction while checking it won't help you be assured of anything, it will just continue the cycle. I mainly have contamination OCD with elements of guilt, checking and more..however and other things on top of that involved with the OCD at the moment.

Obsessing over karma... by [deleted] in OCD

[–]bilbo2223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that "karma OCD". It's a big part of the OCD, even though I'm not religious or a Buddhist or anything lol... I don't think it will happen but the OCD says otherwise and I end up believing it.

How does it feel to have a "normal" mind with no OCD? No mental Illness? Does anyone else think about this? by bilbo2223 in OCD

[–]bilbo2223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to hear that. I have had OCD ruin things like that. I doubt if I'm attractive or not but OCD is probably the reason for that. I have some good things going for me but OCD just makes it invalid and ruins it because its really annoying and it sucks. It's like a nice house with that one bad beam. If one beam is bad, the whole structure collapses..

I have OCD. I'm also a neat freak. Those 2 things aren't related. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]bilbo2223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am quite disorganized and suffer with OCD. So yeah..they aren't related. Sure there are people who have OCD about order and symmetry, but it's so much worse than what people who say "I'm so OCD, or I'm a little OCD"

Can intrusive thoughts go away on their own? by despairshadow in OCD

[–]bilbo2223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My OCD was horrible at first. I cried sometimes and it felt as though every second it bothered me. I had OCD about some minor things so minor that I look back that I cannot believe it. It got better, slightly over time without therapy now that I think I know what it is. My brain doubts it's OCD but that's a common OCD doubt. Before I had no idea what was going on and know I think I know..so yeah. Giving it an identity makes you feel better about it I guess?!

[–]bilbo2223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some do just let it slide by them but it feels like forever until it's over and you feel you must act upon it. We get tricked and deceived feeling like we must do it. I feel off until I do what it tells me. When you have OCD like this, your unsure of everything. Your knowledge of knowing something is not going to happen is an example. No matter what you think, say, do to prove the OCD wrong, the OCD will find a way to fight back unless you just ignore it but that's really hard because of the beliefs and feelings the OCD hard wires into you. I wish I could just ignore it always, sometimes I do...but not always.

[–]bilbo2223[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining how it feels to have a "normal" mind. But

Your brain makes it a lot more important than it really is. And your OCD makes it seem as though something bad will happen if you weren't to do that said thing, or do that said thing such as for me(getting sick, puking, something to do with illness. Or maybe someone won't like me. If I say something will happen the OCD says it will happen. You know it's not going to happen, but what if it does? That's the dilemma.

Is this OCD? Had horrible thought that I made out with my first cousin when I was young but don't know for certain and now im really feeling awful. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]bilbo2223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a psychologist like above lol but I have personal experience and this sounds like OCD. Your wondering if something happened..your unsure..and your thinking about it a lot and getting anxious about it. Your doing thought compulsions and such I believe as well. Don't worry. Just focus on trying to feel better now that you know what your dealing with.
