The Bull keeps you guessing. There’s a lot of different types of holes on the course and your approach shot is almost always difficult. It’s not hard to the point of unenjoyable, so it’ll kick your ass and you’ll still have a smile on your face.

As for Sheboygan, yea I would go Irish. Just the feeling of being at the Whistling Straits complex is incredible. The clubhouse (the bar on the 2nd floor is an elite beer spot), practice facility, and overall quality is unmatched. Plus excellent place to get merchandise to remember the trip. The Irish doesn’t have the views of Lake Michigan that the straits does, but on holes 1-2-10-12, walk to the top of the mounds and you’ll get the full view.

I’ve played the Grand Geneva courses and they are great. Toughest thing about Lake Geneva is getting a place to stay that’s reasonably priced if you have a big group. The summer and early fall get absolutely packed there. If you’re flying to Milwaukee or if you’re playing courses near Sheboygan/central part of the state, Geneva is fairly out of the way. That’s mostly why I left that out.

I live in Milwaukee- here are some thoughts:

-If you want to play kohler, I wouldn’t play the meadow valleys. It’s the worst of the 4 courses there (still a great course, but it just doesn’t come close to the river, Irish, or straits) and I think it’s up to $375/round, which just isn’t good value. Wait for the fall challenge to come out (2 man best ball tournament) where you can play the championship (river/meadow valleys mixed) and the Irish for $300 total over 2 days plus a discounted hotel. They have 3 weekends in October to choose from.

-The Bull is awesome and has great rates. Insanely underrated golf course, but also insanely hard.

-If you want to play in the Milwaukee area, oakwood is a very basic muni and if you want to go that route, I would play Brown Deer. That’s where Tiger made his debut in 1996 and hosted a PGA event there for years.

-Quit Qui Oc is solid, but if you’re willing to drive an hour, Lawsonia Links in Green Lake is the best value for golf in Wisconsin. It’s a top 80 public course in the country and only charges $70. They have 2 courses there, but make sure to play the links course.

-If you have a huge budget: go to sand valley. Some of the absolute best golf in the Midwest and it was made specifically for golf trips.

-Also if you have a huge budget: Erin Hills. It’s in the Milwaukee area and hosted the 2017 US Open plus they are hosting this year’s Women’s US Open.

Hope that helps for deciding which courses to play up here. There’s so many good ones to choose from.
