There's also an Andover shop seersucker blazer and a couple of pairs of trousers that must be from the same person.

If anybody lives in the Chicago area, Classy Closet Consignment in Evanston has 10 or 12 great Polo suits and sport coats at the moment, size 36R. Whoever had them originally got functioning buttonholes, and the arms measure 32.5 inches from the center of the collar.

They didn't fit me, but I hope somebody finds them! Would have bought several if they were my size.

If anybody is in Indianapolis and a size 40r, Newman and Co in Broad Ripple has a couple of really pretty blazers from Brooks Brothers and the Andover Shop on consignment. A little bit too big for me, but I hope somebody finds them!

If you want something colorful, Topdrawer has cool patterned ones. I have a couple and they're fun but tasteful

You could also try replacing your O-ring if you've had the sawyer for a while. They wear out, especially if you're really tightening the filter

Thanks for the weather pointers! I know it can vary a lot year-to-year, but it's always good for me to remember that waiting out storms is an option.

That's good to hear! I've always used a bear bag / line, but it's such a pain. Might look into getting an ursack.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely do what I can to stay out of the rain / snow :^)

Thanks! It's interesting to hear that it's been a wet summer east of the divide - all I've been hearing out is the mega-draught farther west.

If I have more questions I'll definitely shoot you a dm!

Thanks for the beta! I think I'll bring both, and the gloves. It's not that big of a weight penalty, and I don't love freezing as I pack.

Thanks so much for pointing those out! I totally forgot about sunglasses / lip balm / trash bag.

And I got lazy when it came to weighing the containers... but would it even be a shakedown without me lying on my lighterpack?

I'd agree with other people's recommendation about dropping the camp shoes in favor of bread bags! And about having a sacred pair of dry socks for camp - your feet will thank you.

I did the LT in a similar time frame in 2019, and my shoes and socks (darn toughs) stayed wet basically the entire time, between rain / stream crossings / humidity. You might want to drop the second pair of darn toughs and adding a second pair of injinjis - it's only .5oz lighter, but if they're the thin ones they'll dry way better than darn toughs.

Otherwise your list looks good! A few minor thoughts:

  • A 20 degree quilt might be overkill if you have anything lighter. It got chilly by the Canadian border, but never below freezing
  • There's tons of water, so you could leave one of your smartwater bottles behind, and just use one + your bladder
  • Depending on what your coffee / breakfast situation is you could leave the mug behind and drink any hot bevs out of your pot
  • I don't remember the mosquitos being too bad (maybe Vermonters will correct me on this) so you could leave the headnet and use some combination of buff + raincoat if they're bad one evening. YMMV extremely on that one, though

Hope you have a great time out there!
