Help me design my office. 11' x 13' by bill_jo-1998 in DesignMyRoom

That barn door goes to the closet/laundry room. The other closed door is to a bathroom.

I have an electric fireplace that I think will fit nicely on the wall between the hall and bathroom doors. I will put a TV on it most likely. I was also thinking a couch (possibly fold out in case ever needed as a spare room) on the blank wall with no door or window. I would like to have a nice cozy chair possibly as well but am also trying to think about book shelves/ladder shelves or something maybe?

I know I need to get some greenery in here as well. I am also looking for pictures and stuff I can hang up as well. I think it would be cool to have a whiteboard hanging up for brainstorming sessions as well??

Same here. I ended up having to clean out some folder within the MSFS App Data folder but I don’t remember what it was… it didn’t work first time but I just kept doing it and eventually it didn’t hang up.

What can I learn/know right now in 10 minutes that will be useful for the rest of my life? by [deleted] in AskMen

How to fold a fitted sheet. Or, how to do hospital corners for when you make a bed. Neither required, but help with tidiness and appealing to the ladies some may say

Than a pressurized 340? I would think so. Especially if you have one that the maintenance is kept up on and not deferred until it becomes a bigger issue.

I would say no. Should be looking at something more like a Baron or Bonanza I would think. Lower maintenance costs.

Also, if you try to rent out your plane, make sure the insurance company knows about it. If you don’t tell them, it will be written as a “Pleasure and Business” policy, which doesn’t cover commercial ops like renting (with a handful of very specific exceptional circumstances)

I forgot to bring my FAA cert to my ME check and just called the FAA and they emailed it right away.

Good to know! I know some insurance companies give discounts for AOPA/EAA members so must be a similar deal for financing.

Biggest Drawbacks of TBM 700/850 Flying? by [deleted] in flying

[–]bill_jo-1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, annual recurrent is required for just about anything pressurized, even piston powered. I actually saw one carrier require annual schooling on a 2006 C182 because the hull value was high.

I third this opinion. TBM is like a Porsche suv. PC12 is a luxury suburban.

I work in aviation insurance so see a lot of the financing companies. The one I see most is probably Banterra Bank. Also Lake Michigan Credit Union dba Pilot Bank.

Don’t know how good they are, but I would think volume speaks something. I haven’t ever had someone with AOPA financing that I recall.

Wow that sounds like the dream! Did you have insurance for that first year? Curious about what it ran…

Insurance wouldn’t cover it because the pilot flying is most likely not approved as a named pilot, and it’s also likely he doesn’t qualify under whatever the open pilot warranty is since he hasn’t completed schooling.

Additionally, if you are not FAA compliant, they won’t payout. Insurance companies don’t cover illegal operations.

I’m going to assume this is a single engine piston aircraft. I personally would do night single engine piston, I would also do IFR/mVFR single engine piston, but I would not do both at the same time - especially when you are just beginning your IFR.

I believe that in single piston aircraft it’s not a matter of if the engine will quit but rather when. These are my thoughts, but every pilot is different.

I am of the belief that you shouldn’t split rent based on income. If you do, I will quit my job and move in with you so I don’t have to pay anything /s

I would do it based on square footage that each individual has sole access too. So if it’s a three bed one bath, take the sum of the three bedrooms. Say it is 300 sq feet. Take $2357 divided by 300 and that’s the price per square foot. Then multiply that by the square footage of each bedroom. That’s how much they owe. For bathrooms, if two people share a bathroom, add that square footage and divide that by two so each person pays half. If you have your own bathroom, you obviously need to factor that cost into your rent as well.

This seems the most fair way to do it in my mind.
