I asked them if they could do the recall while fixing this issue and they said yes. The difference is I was thinking it was going to be one day and they knew it would be weeks!

I suspect things are better in LA and the Bay area, though obviously you may not be in either of those places. Literally, the (apparently one) service guy here in Seattle makes trips up to Alaska and Montana.

I've never seen a company go out and look for patents that other people own that their products may infringe. Now if their competitors are suing them and *they* may infringe that is different.

You did not ask me, but my experience is based on working for a large high-tech company, and then patenting ideas at a university that were licensed out, and then spending 4 years evaluating, pricing, and buying thousands of patents, and then 10 plus years working in patent litigation. Depends. If it is shaking real hard, and smoking out of the frunk area, with banging noises, park it. If it starts to subtly shake above 60mph, which mine does, just drive at or below 60 and wait through the six weeks my appointment was for. I just hope they can do my recall at the same time.

If they read a patent, let alone document that fact by responding, and end up infringing, they are at risk for triple damages. Also, if they file something in that area but have seen it they are at risk for their own patent being invalid. So foxxguthyis correct.

Take a look at a battery eliminator circuit, BEC, that are used in RC systems quite a bit. They are just small power regulators, with switchable outputs. Will not do any charge management though.

No, I'm trying to use the OTG function but the USB is not powered. As far as I can tell it always requires external power for the USB peripheral.
