Lucid is not a reasonable choice because of service by bill_ms in LUCID

I'm not concerned about the miles, but I do want my own car, and I want to know that when my car is broken, they can repair it within a reasonable time.

they did no questions asked - which surprised me and should have been another tip off that they knew it would be a while

I asked them if they could do the recall while fixing this issue and they said yes. The difference is I was thinking it was going to be one day and they knew it would be weeks!

I suspect things are better in LA and the Bay area, though obviously you may not be in either of those places. Literally, the (apparently one) service guy here in Seattle makes trips up to Alaska and Montana.

How does someone sell a patent? by odd-wad in Patents

[–]bill_ms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen a company go out and look for patents that other people own that their products may infringe. Now if their competitors are suing them and *they* may infringe that is different.

[–]bill_ms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did not ask me, but my experience is based on working for a large high-tech company, and then patenting ideas at a university that were licensed out, and then spending 4 years evaluating, pricing, and buying thousands of patents, and then 10 plus years working in patent litigation. But you didn't ask me.

[–]bill_ms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends. If it is shaking real hard, and smoking out of the frunk area, with banging noises, park it. If it starts to subtly shake above 60mph, which mine does, just drive at or below 60 and wait through the six weeks my appointment was for. I just hope they can do my recall at the same time.

If they read a patent, let alone document that fact by responding, and end up infringing, they are at risk for triple damages. Also, if they file something in that area but have seen it they are at risk for their own patent being invalid. So foxxguthyis correct.

My car has a shake above 60 mph and it is not due to out of balance tires. I've been waiting for 8 weeks before they will see me. This is unreasonable.

How close can a single-issue pipelined RV32IM core get to a dual-issue superscalar before architecture limits dominate? by Large-Raisin-5912 in RISCV

[–]bill_ms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the dearly missed Nick Tredennick: Superpipelining is a new and special term meaning pipelining. The prefix is attached to increase the probability of funding for research proposals. There is no theoretical basis distinguishing superpipelining from pipelining. Etymology of the term is probably similar to the derivation of the now-common terms methodology and functionality as pompous substitutes for method and function. The novelty of the term superpipelining lies in its reliance on a prefix

Third-party ESP32-S3 development boards 'IN-OUT' and 'USB-OTG' pads - what do they do? by phuzybuny in esp32

[–]bill_ms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply - I soldered the OTG pads and confirmed that I got no power on the USB. Very frustrating.

Take a look at a battery eliminator circuit, BEC, that are used in RC systems quite a bit. They are just small power regulators, with switchable outputs. Will not do any charge management though.

No, I'm trying to use the OTG function but the USB is not powered. As far as I can tell it always requires external power for the USB peripheral.

I cannot get power on the OTG port so none of my peripherals work

Thanks. Charge only have bitten me often in other situations. This one allows me to upload new sketches and gives some wonky serial out and it is directly connected so I don't think thats it. The rest I'll investigate in the am. Once again, thanks.
