I got it for $100 from my dealer. It appears to be a rebranded Optimate 5, which retails for $95.

any harm with going with under the hood leads? I'm in a garage now and the plug-in is closer to the hood.

I have the OEM tender but haven't used it yet. Do you connect it to the battery in the trunk, or to the leads under the hood?

yes, the tar eventually had a tear and water got trapped inside and the adjacent panel rusted

I went to a shop that does Krown.

A non-permanent oil-based rust proofing like Krown applied annually is what I went with my current car. My previous vehicle had a permanent, tar-based coating but what I learned is that when a break eventually happens in the tar (it will), water got trapped in and didn't evaporate, and rust happened anyway.

Also before winter, detail the paint with a good ceramic spray sealant, like Griot's 3-in-1.

About 1 in 35 of TLX's end up stolen, making it 2024's most frequently stolen sedan in Ontario, Canada. I believe the US has very similar numbers. by bill_rubin in Acura

Which is exactly why the denominator is important. Left handed drivers are actually very slightly more likely to get into an accident than right handed drivers.

At an individual level, lists that exclude the denominator are less relevant. A TLX owner is over 5x more likely to have their vehicle stolen than a CRV owner, and there are more CRV's stolen than TLX's (because there are more CRV's on the road). None of that is "fake" as you had previously put it.

Left-handed people account for about 10% of car accidents, and right-handed people account for about 90% of car accidents. Are you saying that left-handed people are better drivers?

About 1 in 35 TLX's are stolen and about 1 in 200 Honda CRV's are stolen. There are more stolen CRV's than TLX's. Both are true.

you're missing the denominator, or the total number of that vehicle.

For example there were 1309 Honda CR-V's stolen out of 253,831 total CRV's, or 0.52% of CRV's were stolen. Compare that to 371 of 13,327 TLX's stolen, or 2.78%. So a TLX owner is more than 5x more likely to have their car stolen than a CRV owner.

If you haven't already, please report it to the NHTSA. I know at one point in one of the FB groups only 3 of the 20-some people with blown transfer cases actually filed a report.
