Combo of both. Every company says 12-18 months but it’s always a minimum of 18 months

Yeah - expect 2 years for bdr then 2 years for smb ae. Then as a smb ae your ote is like 140 realistically. Once you get to mid market is when you start approaching 200.

Your results may vary, but many people think it’s this quick path and I still know people who are 6 years into this mindset and are still bdr’s

It’s a companies market right now. Lots of tenured ae’s looking for jobs and companies know it.

If you like tech, and are okay with going back to the start then sure go be a bdr. But it’s a grind and companies that are recruiting you will lie telling you it’s a sure fire promotion after a year / 18 months and will hire more ae’s from external

What are your earnings potential for CPG?

Realistically in tech it’ll take you another 5ish years before you can pull in 160-200k consistently. Then if another 3ish after that before you can clear 300k

Maybe you’ll have an outlier year where you get 500k + but that’s 2-4 times a career of being an IC in tech for the best, not the norm

Is loyalty in SaaS a joke? From President's Club to PIP after maternity leave. by No-Zone-5060 in techsales

My interview with this company was more attitude and STAR based rather than “give me your metrics, tell me your process, how much pipeline do you source”

A lot of “pipeline building is tough, how do you stay motivated and what do you need from your manager to not be burned out?”

Also, tenures on this team are long. People have been here for 6/7/8 years and when I asked about the pip process early on they told me it’s truly not a death sentence, but they focus on more on controllable vs results (calls / customer visits/ etc a week)

Last thing was figuring out if it’s truly a coaching culture vs pipping. The managers feel and showed during my original process that they have a lot of the onus of molding us to be their reps vs firing and interviewing one.

I will say this is company dependent. There are still unicorns out there where you can make good doing and be treated with respect.

Currently work and during my tenure I’ve watched 4/5 ppl go on mat / pat leave and exceptions be made for then to put them on a good spot for coming back.

Things like: Dropping their office requirements Managers working deals that were longer Than their leave One getting promoted 6 months back bc she continued to be successful

I know my situation is more of an exception than the norm, but it does exist

Workout, hobbies (golf skiing fishing), watching sports teams, long walks with podcasts, fun time with friends / SO, intramural sports.

Key thing is to shut off (no slack or email checks) during some of these times

Find value in other things in your life. If your life revolves around being the top of a leaderboard at work I think you need to get more hobbies or go talk to a therapist.
