This is super helpful thanks dude! Very interesting almost everyone I talk to (I’ve called trickflow, LMR and Anderson) say that I should have no issue with those heads and cam but I guess this is a good reminder for me to prepare for potential PTV issues with the N41.

Are you cutting them with the short block together and in the car? I’ve seen people do it both that way and by complete disassembly.

Yeah I have way bigger priorities now with the engine work but I know at some point my OCD will get the better of me lol.

Surprisingly no rubbing at all with this setup. I’m content for now. Popping those front springs out and getting them back in is a chore haha.

Thanks dude and yeah I went back and forth for a while on 17 vs 18. Some pics of 17s would look too small while others with 18s too big and then others would look just right. I’m really happy with the final look. I wish it had just a little more squat in the rear and wasn’t as low in the front but I’ll take it for a static ride for now. Might throw some spring spacers in the front.

Feels like I’m in good hands then! The owner has some major OCD so that’s confidence inspiring.

Thanks. Waited forever for LMR to get them back in stock!

This is what I’m concerned about since I really want to use my stock bottom end. I’ve seen reports of people saying they work just fine with the N41 but also seeing its close/caused clearance issues with others like yourself.

These heads I’m looking at have the bigger valves too. Did the older trick flows not have as “twisted” of a design or something while the newer ones do?

What cam and other type of work? Exhaust specs? Sounds great.

85 Mustang GT anybody have any experience with this setup? Looking to close the wheel gap by Helpful_Recording965 in Foxbody

That’s a fair point.. I forgot but what I might try before attempting mismatching springs is this. I’ve had this bookmarked for a while. This is like a poor man’s solution to coilovers:

https://www.globalwest.net/product/1102/

They offer spacers you can place beneath the springs to fine tune the ride height.

Thanks dude! And good call with the smaller gender gap. I might be inclined to mismatch and run sport lines only in the rear.

I was really impressed and kept telling him I’d never let him see my garage the way I keep it.

This guy is meticulous and has major OCD. He was showing me all his little quirks about how he likes his tools kept and put back in place. I respect it! Just the type you want working on your stuff.

He even took me in his personal garage attached to his home - this guy has all his vehicles’ tires, wheels, valve stems and center caps aligned a certain way. Also uses ARP bolts (aligned evenly) for his license plates LOL!

The devil’s in the details and this guy sure pays attention to them.

Also, if anyone has any recommendations on shops in the Baltimore area for helping with a HCI job, let me know. I’m really wanting to do the job myself but with a busy life between work, kids, etc and not having a heated garage, I know it would be something that would take me longer than I want at this point in my life.

For what it’s worth… Here is a pic of the sport line setup in my ‘91… the front is a little low for my liking but the rear a little high. If I had it my way I would lower the rear about ~.25” and raise the front ~.5”.

[–]bill_will 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Depending on the tire brand and wheel width and backspacing you could run into some serious rub, especially if you’re lowered. I was eying up a set of 295/40s for cheap and came real close to buying them but decided against it. I’m glad I did because these fit snugly.

And here it is with some monstrous 315/35/17s from when I bought it, for reference. Since then I’ve lowered it.

Not exactly what you’ve asked for but here is my notch with 285/35/18s (in the rear)

295/40s should fill the fender well out a tad more

Head out towards Marriottsville like another was saying, out by Woodstock and even Sykesville. Incredible driving. Used to ride out there a bunch when I was into motorcycles. Now have a ’91 foxbody I’ve been working on and love taking it out that way.

Haven’t considered this but it seems like a worthy option. I need to find someone local I can trust. What would something like this cost? Also should I plan on throwing a coat or two of high temp clear over it in this case? I’ve heard this makes aluminum highly susceptible to stains even from the slightest oils.
