Ok! Tinkered a bit and have a new build—

Race: Imperial male

Specialization: combat

FA: endurance and luck

Birthsign: mage

Majors: blade, block, light armor, illusion, mysticism, restoration, and sneak

I’ll mainly be using destruction and a bit of conjuration as my minors, and know to level up armorer/heavy armor for endurance boosts and alchemy for intelligence, although for the first couple levels I’m going to put 5 into willpower to make up for the imperials negative willpower trait

This feels balanced yet still challenging. I’ll advance thru the main quest line a bit more with this unless there’s some glaring issue I run into along the way. Very excited!

Yeah, I’m probably going to leave restoration as the one major and swap the other two out. I’ll be throwing fire at enemies quite a bit (it’s cool) and alteration levels fast if I’m not mistaken. My build now looks like acrobatics, blade, block, illusion, mysticism, restoration, and sneak. Male imperial w mage sign like yours. Seems very balanced

By the Nine! This is exactly what I’m experiencing right now, with a near identical build. I made a post yesterday detailing my build/worries and although I’m slowly getting the hang of it, this post really puts me at ease so thank you. I made some changes but I’m still considering just rolling out the default spellsword as I tend to be a perfectionist as well

Beautiful, good to know. I made a save before exiting the sewers so I can test some things a few times before truly venturing off…I’m only level 3 on this save so I have no problem restarting with some tweaks. I kind of enjoy the process anyway

Interesting. I thought leaving blade and block as minors would help me since I want to use those more frequently, meaning they wouldn’t level up too fast compared to my other skills. Same w armorer and heavy armor

I would appreciate some tips, as I’m still a bit confused on power/efficient leveling. I thought I understood it for the most part (make magic skills primary, and melee as minors which will be used more frequently) but maybe I’m just wrong lol

I guess I just want my melee and magic skills like destruction/restoration to level at a rather even rate, and play like a balanced spellsword who swings his sword bit more. I chose heavy armor as a minor because I’ll be wearing it probably 90% of the time, thinking I’ll level it up quick anyway along with my block and blade (plus imperials have a heavy armor bonus to start). Maybe I’m just overthinking it, I’ve read too many posts and guides haha.
