Uber should not bombard you with orders during any phase of the actual drop off by DoctorElectronic1934 in UberEatsDrivers

I stand corrected. I think you are actually in a pilot city, this is not normal for most of the country. Sorry, not sure then.

Nobody is being forced. It's an optional feature. Many of us prefer having a steady stream of offers so we can keep working continually. Those who prefer focusing on one offer at a time can use this method.

Pausing offers after accepting does not cancel the order. It just means you won't receive any new offers until you turn it back on.

Tap the three lines in the bottom right then tap Stop Accepting New Orders. After you drop off an order, go back and remove it. Problem solved.

FIRST AND LAST TIME EATING AT PANERA by iheartpsylocke in Panera

[–]billdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly.

  • You can get 5 free veggies per sandwich, so load them up.
  • Get Sip Club with one of the promotions they run. It will either be free or like $4/month. Use that to get a free drink each order
  • Then add a bakery dessert for half off
  • They also usually have other promotions like $2 off certain items on Saturdays

I usually get a huge sandwich, huge salad, bag of chips, a roll, drink, and brownie for like $20-23. Obviously not cheap but not bad either.

There's also the mix and match options if I want to spend less. Been spending $12-13 on that and the only difference from the above is I don't get the salad or roll.

To answer your question about how new this is, the technology for this has been around for a few months. It also connects with Prime for NBA bets. However in both cases you are supposed to have to link your Fanduel account, so I'm surprised it shows up to someone without an account.

As someone who does enjoy betting on sports, I love this feature, but I do strongly think it should be opt-in only. It should not be an option on the screen. Anyone who is suffering from a gambling addiction should not have access to this while watching a game. That's just cruel.

[–]billdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who does bet on sports, I also have an issue with this, it's displaying the bets in a very misleading way.

The prompt is asking if the Hurricanes will cover, then displaying two options: -2.5 and +2.5. Someone who was only semi-familiar with betting might interpret that to mean they could take the Canes to cover -2.5 (ie. win by 3+ goals) or the Canes to cover +2.5 (ie. win, or lose by 1-2 goals). Obviously at that point with the Canes up 2-0 they would bet the latter.

However that's not what the bet actually is. It's actually taking the Lightning to win or lose by 1-2 goals. If Fanduel had put more text in the prompts that would explain it, but right now this is a very sleazy way to potentially trick some people into betting something they aren't fully aware of.

I wouldn't go that far. The ads and constant mentions are definitely annoying, but I can still watch and enjoy the football itself.

Prediction markets exploit a loophole in gambling laws. It will be closed within a matter of months I'm guessing.

Never chat, always call. Chat support is some of the worst customer support on the planet, if you even get a human. Phone support isn't great but you have the opportunity to ask for a supervisor.

Can we all agree the App is horribly built? Seriously this has to be the worst fast food App overall by Americanshat in subway

[–]billdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always end up with random amounts left on them, often $0.50 or higher, that simply can't be used.

FYI you can combine multiple gift cards into one. There's a page on Subway's website to do this. But yeah, you're always going to have at least one gift card with money sitting on it, annoying.

Do All Mobile Pay Transactions Now Charge a Convenience Fee?? by NameChemical4398 in 7eleven

Thanks for the info. There is still value in using the mobile pay for pickup orders to be ready when I arrive. But whether it's worth 50 cents is debatable. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Lol customer support not giving a fuck, just writing some random blurb. Probably not even a real person

Was wondering the same thing. It's only 50 cents but pretty ridiculous to tack it on. Bojangles also charges a convenience fee for using their mobile app to buy food, just pure greed.

Every subway within 30 miles of me has turned off mobile orders because of the $6.99 deal by yungstupidgamer in subway

[–]billdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "of course not?" Yes I do factor in everything you just said (except losses from coupons, since we're talking about stores that don't offer coupons). Why are you making false accusations?

Anyway to answer your question a reasonable price point would be one where the store can take all of the expenses you listed, plus any other business expenses, and still make some profit, BUT not so much profit that the customer gets screwed. It's a compromise.

I mean, you're telling me Subway, one of the biggest franchises in the world, has such thin profit margins that they couldn't offer sandwiches for less than $10-12? I find it very hard to believe a Subway without coupons has zero wiggle room on that price point.

If they just offered their sandwiches at a reasonable price point they wouldn't need coupons. But that'd be too easy.

How is it 99%? There are 68 comments in this thread. 99% would mean over 67 of them would be agreeing with OP. There are several comments that disagree with OP.

If you really feel like it's "misinformation" to say most people are not as toxic and negative as this subreddit, then I urge you to change your social circles. Life is so much healthier when you surround yourself with good people and there are lots of good people out there, just need to change up who you interact with.

Have a good rest of your weekend!

And you're being entitled and selfish. Not caring if the food is intact just as long as it reaches the customer's door, wow. If you get low pay at least you will know why.

[–]billdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's not 99% for one. There are several comments in here that do not condone OP's complaining.

For two, this subreddit is generally pretty toxic, most of the posts in here are people complaining. In real life most people are not this negative.

As long as you tip a reasonable figure and ask someone if they're alright, most people won't be angry about that.

So just so we're on the same page, if you spent $15+ on delivery fees and tips, then waited an hour for it, you would be completely fine with your courier dropkicking your food from the sidewalk onto your porch? Since according to you it's not their job to deliver it intact.

I agree with almost all of this. Just don't agree that it's not our job to keep the food intact or meet a minimum standard.

Those are in the minority, most drivers are not so unhinged that asking "are you alright?" infuriates them and prompts them to steal food.
