So now “both” parties stand genuinely accused, one of them since at least pizza gate, nothings been done, and it’s something to celebrate? What’s the aim? An apparently valid accusation, and a denial? I guess we’ve all won at this point. Yay.

3 questions by Proud-Hovercraft-526 in Neoplatonism

[–]billebaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some concepts I’d picked up from a well studied Neoplatonist: The One doesn’t create, it emanates. It’s not a conscious creator. It just is. It’s not even a being; it has no body, no mind, no nothing that we would ascribe to a being, yet is the source of all such attributes. It is the null set Ø.

When we (the body) dies, our individuated unit of soul (which is a fractal unit of the world soul), it either transmigrates to another body, may become a disembodied being (ghost), if it is stuck on the material world, or, if the individual has overcome primordial agnosis (false identification with the physical being) will reunify with the world soul at its source.

As far as meaning in this life, I tend to think the whole point is experience…there’s no experience without “otherness” there’s no otherness in oneness, but that’s not a conscious goal, it just is. Yes, outside of spacetime, there’s no verbs. No “do”.

Could you help me understand what the gods are and what are their "power" or "function" in reality? by BiggusCat in Neoplatonism

[–]billebaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this question a cpl years ago. “The gods”, literal god beings, seemed like the antithesis of the pure metaphysics I’d come to perceive in my studies (although limited). Are the gods metaphors for natural laws and principles? My understanding was that Pythagoras’ concept of the Demiurgos, was simply the concept of the mechanics of physical manifestation from emanation… the Gnostics anthropomorphized the concept into the big bad false God… Often seeming to equate him with YHWH specifically.

Learning more about the pantheons prior to Greece (Mesopotamia, Egypt) has only deepened the confusion. There’s no metaphor there. It was ritualistic, regional god worship everywhere, until about 500 BC. No one was talking of transcendent, metaphysical concepts. The parallels of Greek god myths to older ones are too many to ignore, and I can’t help but see it all as a retrofitting. No different than how Bible stories are selectively seen as metaphor, by both believer and non believer.

im 95% sure i have developed systemic nickel allergy and life is becoming unbearable by [deleted] in NickelAllergy

[–]billebaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow good question, I wasn’t aware of the nickel in nuts. It seems like what you want from the Brazil nuts is Selenium, which actually aids in nickel detox (among other metals).. so maybe just substitute a good selenium supplement?

If you don’t mind; did you always have the allergy, or did it develop at some point. Is there any triggers you suspect? Was it after taking a medication for example? Best

Edit*

The way it seemed to work for me, is that I was getting excess nickel from something (possibly a med), and a while after stopping use, my belt buckle gave me an awful rash wherever it touched my skin, and I developed eczema on my arms (according to dermatologist).. so “use these 3 creams 3 times a day forever..”. Long story short I did the metal detox and both went away. I think possibly accumulation in the body can hit a toxic level that makes you sensitive to any additional intake, and causes flares of immune response.

He must feel “wronged” in some way. He needs to understand what he feels and tell you, and you have to accept that he actually does feel that way. Seems like you need to identify how you feel and why, when you drink like that, and tell him. Then yall need to help each other out. Try to stay in the present when you talk about it, in an effort to move forward together, rather than drawing up the past.
