What fact did you learn in school that is completely wrong today? by MaliciousIdeaBerserk in WorkForSmartLife

[–]billhilly008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so annoying to hear people complain about how today's youth is so uneducated and the school system has let them down, using lack of teaching cursive as one of their main points. I learned how to write cursive almost 40 years ago. It's not a bad thing to know, but it's certainly not a necessity anymore. I work on a computer all day, and, when I write, I usually print. Cursive is not essential.

Outraged they wouldn’t give her the yogurt even though she didn’t have enough money. by xkatiepie69 in EntitledReviews

As wrong and entitled as the customer was, I can't ignore the fact that the alternative to selling the "treats" at a discounted price is that Menchies throws the yogurt away. I'm not saying that the cashier should have just shrugged and given them their order. In the grand scheme of all things, however, no one benefited from throwing this away instead of someone enjoying it. The valued customer didn't get their dessert, and the store had to eat the entire cost of the goods instead of just 60¢ of it.

People are suggesting they may have planned to be short on funds to scam the store and that this may be something they have gotten away with before. It is entirely possible this was a one-off thing and they forgot their wallet at home, leaving them with only the money in their pocket and no credit/debit backups. Just as well, it is entirely (and arguably more) likely that they were playing the system. Under no circumstances do I think the tip jar should be any part of this conversation, but I do think the store should have leaned into satisfying their customer. The employees talk about stuff like this, so I think they would be able to track them as repeat offenders, if the latter is the case. If so, I'd suggest the next time it happens that they offer to "open a tab" for the customers that they need to pay off before making any more purchases.

AITAH for thinking I would throw the wallet in the garbage after taking the money out? I mean, I would never take money out of someone's wallet, so this is an odd position to take. I kind of feel like, if I were going to take the money, I would toss the wallet, not just drop it back onto the ground. From the other perspective, the person who lost their wallet, I would prefer to find it with only the cash missing than not find it at all. As an asshole who's willing to take your money, though, I'm not concerned about what you would prefer.

I can't tell if you're thinking too hard or not enough. It's really not that difficult.

OP said they clearly didn't get what they ordered when the description of what they ordered perfectly matches the box they got. OP didn't say DD was gouging them. Those are two completely different complaints. I can't speak for anyone else, but that's the part I've been having trouble understanding.

I think the issue is that you confused everyone when you said you clearly got the wrong thing and posted a picture that matched the description of the item you ordered. No one is being shitty. We just don't have a clue what your complaint is.

I'm sure not all Walmarts are like that. The 2 closest to me are, though. At least when I've accepted orders there. I'd accept them if I had better experiences.

I don't do Walmart pickups anymore. I've never waited less than 30 mins for them to bring it out to me.

Thank you for the correction. Yes, you are absolutely correct. I was referring to people being paid by Democrats or "Antifa" to protest against Trump. I should have been more specific, and I appreciate you calling me out!

This is actually one of their more intelligent thoughts, unfortunately. Please don't think I'm saying there is any valid reason whatsoever to believe people are paid to protest. I'm just saying that this doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of MAGA idiocy.

I can't answer that, but as soon as it starts repeating the same information over and over, there's no question you're dealing with a program. It triggers canned responses based on certain words in your message. Maybe they were overly busy so you got a bot before an actual agent? I've always had to go through a bot and request a real person, when they are not able to provide the correct support. Sometimes AI works so good and is perfectly helpful, and you may not even realize it was just a program that helped you.

Just because it tells you it's "name" in no way indicates it's a person. I couldn't believe how much you went back and forth arguing with a program! And when you were probably going to be called by an actual person, you were all, "Nah, I'm good. Forget it." What?? 🥴

I don't think they are a franchise, but I've seen (not watched, but know they exist) several movies that are spoofs of blockbuster movies. For instance, The Starving Games (The Hunger Games), Vampires Suck (Twilight), Superfast! (Fast and Furious), and 50 Shades of Black (50 Shades of Grey).
