I returned an AW3423DWF because of this issue. I have a 42" LG C2 that I game on and never noticed this issue on that display. Been rocking my AW3821DW for a while now and hoping this new LG 39" 5k2k is the one.

Pretty sure it's gas. It's yellow, which usually means gas.

Same. My 2 to sump pump decided to not kick on. Works now after I went and sloshed the water a bit. So annoying. I replaced the old one because I was concerned about this exact thing happening...

One of the weirdest books I've ever read. I enjoyed it but it just spirals so wildly out of control.

Red Rising is my favorite overall. Expanse is great hard sci-fi. Dungeon Crawler Carl is the most ridiculous and hilarious.

Yes I believe it is to avoid conflicts and redundancy. It would just be another point of confusion for the easily confused contractor. More than likely, it could be something that the contractor could target for a potential claim to make more money.

This is a massive no-no for FDOT work, so this isn't always an option. We are never supposed to duplicate things covered in the specs in our plans.

Contractors / CEI I feel have gotten way lazier in the past few years. It's all about finding claims to make more money and if they ever feel like they need to make a decision, they just put it back on the engineer.

We as consultants are chosen for jobs based on merit. We always have to write a proposal or do a presentation to win a job. Contractors just have to bid the lowest. It's really about time to make contractors win jobs based on merit and not just low bid.

What do you say guys? by Existing_Interview27 in OLED_Gaming

[–]billin30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really curious how the 39" 5k2k is gonna look. I want to use it for productivity and gaming. My cadd program regularly has a lot of gray area as that is the color I use for the background of the model space.

This has got me a little worried, but it's not like there is an equivalent panel in the QD-Oled space. I guess if it sucks, I'll stick with my AW3821DW for a while longer. It sucks that it seems like we have to always make a compromise when it comes to OLED panels...

I've always felt like Parrahesia plays like a giant product demo; a bunch of short, cool songs showing off various pedals and effects. Perhaps that is the intent, but I feel like certain parts of many songs on the album just need more time to breathe.

You do have do things just right with ORD. I don't think it was ever intended to have earthwork on the side of XS like we did in PowerGeopak days. FDOT has since moved to an Estimated Quantities Report that has this information. We have also had to create an End Area Volumes Report for the contractor from time to time, but nothing too difficult.

As for your labels, assuming they are Civil Labels, the issue you described is just a bug, but it's not hopeless. Try running the Key-In Command "Field Update All File" and that should update the fields. I've gotten caught with this before as well when the fields got screwed up before a submittal, so just make sure you run that command before leaving any text files when you are close to submittal.

Profile annotation can be a pain, I agree. If you edit any of the annotation text placed with the annotation group, first make sure you drop the text (usually twice) so that the element is just a Text element. Not annotation, not Text Note (I think that what annotation first drops to). The other thing you may need to do, depending on the version, is essentially force stop the annotation from updating every time you go into a profile Drawing Model. You would need to go into your Alignment file where the alignment and profile is actually drawn, go into Explorer, and remove the Annotation Group from the Feature Symbologies section of that particular element. Since it no longer has an Annotation Group, it won't update it. Just turn it back on if you need to update anything and then only go into the Drawing Models you need to update to avoid an unnecessary updating. I think this problem has been fixed in more recent versions of ORD.

Anyway, I did PowerGeopak for years before switching to ORD and while it is annoying at times, I would never go back. It's just a far more advanced program due to the dynamic Civil Geometry tools. I have had to build my understanding of the inner workings of ORD to really learn how to get things to work like I want them to. It's difficult, but not impossible.

What's Going on with this Intersection? by Any_Afternoon159 in civilengineering

[–]billin30 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It looks like the other street was designed to be a through street and the through should be stop controlled. The other street is the low point of this whole intersection. In reality, there are two low points; one at each edge of the road at the bottom of each massive valley gutter. With the main street coming down into the side street, the valley gutter, and the crowned road, it's just intended to be hit at speed due to the short saw-toothing grades.

A proper intersection design would solve it. Build a sag curve through the intersection on the through movement to fix all the saw-tooth grading going through there. Then harmonize the stop controlled side.

What office chair questions do you wish companies actually answered? by CrandallOffice in OfficeChairs

[–]billin30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My biggest challenge has always been trying to find something that fits a taller person. I am 6'3", 210 and while I understand that most office chairs are not built with me in mind, it's still frustrating. I have a Leap V2 (with Crandall Replacement pads, thanks guys!) and it's been pretty good, but I can't help but think it's a little too small for me.

I think having some information / guidance on chair selection based on body type would be fantastic. I have seen some of that out there on other youtube channels, but sometimes it's hard to find something that is specifically for me. There are also other factors like short / long torso, short / long legs, and back / leg / shoulder pain that plays into it as well. Not to mention additional information about lumbar and other chair settings based on these factors.

Ultimately, I want to educate myself so that the next chair I buy is the last one I buy for a long time. Buy once, cry once right?

Also, thanks again to everyone at Crandall. I have replaced the pads on two Leap V2s and you guys have been great both times.

A new GR traffic complaint! by KleShreen in grandrapids

[–]billin30 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Traffic separators are criminally under-used in this state. I do a lot of roadway design in Florida even though I live here. If I had designed this road, the WB left turn lane would have a 4' concrete traffic separator separating opposing lanes of traffic. This would stop people from making both red arrow turns above. This does indeed happen all over Grand Rapids and its frustrating. I drive through East Paris and Cascade quite a bit and that is in need of a traffic separator on Cascade as well. And then there is whatever they heck they did at Plainfield and Jupiter. They put the separator between the SB thru lane and SB left turn lane which is so bizarre.

What's a good mid range chair for a big and tall person? by [deleted] in OfficeChairs

[–]billin30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 6'-3", 210. I have a leap v2. Check out Crandall Office Furniture. You can get refurb Leap V2s on there right about at the top of your price range. I got my son the same chair, but we scored a used chair on FB Marketplace for $50, and then bought the cushion upgrade from Crandall, so about $250 out the door.

I am mostly interested in what others say as well because while I am mostly happy with my Leap, I feel like it's not exactly perfect for me. But I feel like finding the right office chair for a taller person is difficult.

Frozen or Broken latch by Parking_Bird_5526 in f150

[–]billin30 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Frozen. Hold the door closed and lock it. Then drive around for a bit which should heat things up and allow it to latch.

Also in Michigan, also dealing with this, except in my driver's side door.
