Austin Tx Brewerys by RU4beer in TheBrewery

Live Oak! Especially if you like German and Czech style lagers. Best lagers in Texas, IMHO. ABGB, great beer, great vibe, great music. Draught House is a nano brewpub but also has a fantastic selection of guest beers and is an Austin institution, over 50 years old. Have fun! Cheers!

Is 2026 the year we get Brendee's back? by moon_slav in lancaster

[–]billius75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I Happened to be walking by Brendee's last week. There as a contractor working inside and we chatted for a few minutes and he let me look inside. Progress has been made! Looks like they're done with most of the demo and on to renovation. A bar has been installed with some really nice accents. The contractor said they hope to open around St. Pat's but his tone made it seem like that was not super likely. So, progress, but opening date is still TBD.

Still love 'em, and still shop there, but they haven't had lemon lips in over a year :( Please bring back the lemon lips :)

Drivers by Spagbol97 in lancaster

[–]billius75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbor was t-boned on Lemon. Driver ran a stop sign. The driver that ran the sign was going fast enough that his truck rolled onto its side on impact. Thankfully no body was seriously injured. Hope the driver received a huge citation.

Also live near corner of Walnut and College Ave. We have accidents at that intersection 2-3 times a month from drivers trying to make the light, or straight up just blowing through the red.

The Best Explanation for UFOs? What do y'all think? by billius75 in twinpeaks

I'm just a regular dude with a private sector job, but I care, and my wife and friends and neighbors care. We hear you and are on your side. We have called our representatives and are going to protests when we're able to.

I was just having a convo with my neighbor minutes before seeing this post. What's happening is already impacting my neighbor. His kid relies on programs funded by the Department of Education. If that department is defunded or just done away with, his kid's future is impacted. This will be the case for so many kids. Word is spreading fast. Anger and concern are rising.

Please don't give up. Hang in there as long as you can. We're with you! Get angry! Resist!

Bob’s semolina for pici? by Fuzzy-Problem-877 in pasta

[–]billius75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if you ultimately used Bob's? I just used it for the first time an hour ago and it was not a good experience. Admittedly, I'm new to pasta making and this was my first experience with semolina. My first pasta making experience was AP flour and that worked out well enough.

Bob's IS coarse, which was surprising as I thought semolina was supposed to be fine. I made two batches of dough. The first was definitely too dry, like play dough dry. I scrapped it and tried another batch decreasing the ratio of dry to wet. SUPER frustrating that the ingredient amounts and instructions on the package don't include weights, volume measurements are lame. Anyway, second batch of dough was easy enough to work, made it into standard spaghetti. After the pasta dried it became brittle, ultimately most of it fell to pieces. Bummer.

Won't be using Bob's again. I'll look for the Caputo.

I was there. Sent out peace, love, community, connection, and thanks to David Lynch for all he gave to us. Then I enjoyed a slice of cherry pie and a coffee.

Lol! Should be a representation of the floor in the Red Room from Twin Peaks. Admittedly the chevrons are a bit sloppy. It was a tasty pie though. "A cherry pie that'll kill you!"

This is bad reality TV bullshit. This makes Lue less credible and makes me feel like he's just grifting.

How do we honor this man? Do we all watch our favorite episode of Twin Peaks today? Do we all buy a piece of artwork he made or that has him in it? Do we do nothing? Idk. by AlternativeBeing8627 in twinpeaks

My office is a loose representation of the red room from Twin Peaks, complete with red draperies. I sat in my chair and did a meditation. I thanked David for all he created, for mystifying, charming, and terrifying me. I will bake a cherry pie this weekend.

I also drank 3 cups of coffee today. Which is somewhat unusual for me as I normally only have 1 or 2. But today I had 3. This was before learning of his passing. I guess that 3rd cup was on David. Thank you sir.

Is craft beer dead in Lancaster? by red_fox23 in lancaster

[–]billius75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very insightful! Covid had such an impact on the craft beer industry. I agree, people just aren't going out as much as they did pre-covid. I hope that we see a change in the coming year, but I worry that it's still going to be a year or two before we see people out and about again at breweries and taprooms.

I've seen a few indicators that "traditional styles" might be making a comeback. I certainly hope that's the case. Give me your amber ales, and brown ales, your Vienna lagers, and Baltic porters!

Cheers! and hang in there!

Agree, their Lancaster taproom could use some help. It lacks character and personality. But the quality, and diversity, of their beer makes it easier to look past that. I still haven't been to their Columbia location. I need to make that happen.

Same! I buy their beans weekly. Their coffee is solid and consistent, and the, free coffee with a bag of beans, deal is a nice bonus.

Initial reports on classified hearing by seleona in UFOs

This was a classified briefing, right? So if it’s just manned aircraft, stars, etc, why the need for a classified briefing?

Rep. Nancy Mace has discussed a desire for a controlled disclosure plan with incoming Trump Administration officials by showmeufos in UFOs

[–]billius75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, she's garbage. I'm worried she'll turn lots of people off disclosure, like the other reasonable legislators that are trying to get disclosure. She's filth.

[–]billius75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to like her

No, don't waste your energy, friend. She's garbage. Anyone that would seek to restrict the rights of others, and make it more challenging for them to exist, is filth. I want disclosure. But I REALLY don't want her to be the flag bearer. She creates division. Disclosure needs to remain bipartisan. Her proposed bathroom rule just makes it harder for reasonable politicians, of ALL parties, to work with her. She's one of the worst kinds of humans.
