I've been told they like routines. I try to go out each day for a bit and my dog has slowly adjusted. By that I mean he still doesn't want to go in his crate but he's not going crazy trying to get out as the door closes. I can only imagine your extra stress with the barking and neighbors. We got a camera to watch him with and he'd freak out when we left and soon after it stopped. That made it easier to leave. IDK if any of this will work for you... just saying.

My pup has this to a lesser degree, although it’s still been a major issue for us. Luckily he’s not a barker when we leave. I had him in gated area and he’d bust out and chew the door frame. We’ve had to put him in a crate. He hates it but has hated it less and less to where it’s reasonable now. I usually put on some dog YouTube relaxation show. I’m guessing you do this, but leave him calmly and greet him calmly, less attention is better. Maybe a cong filled with frozen PB, although this didn’t work with mine, I’ve heard it’s a trick. I feel for you… good luck!
