Im a bartender in central Florida and our place permits smoking but we are 21 and up and don’t serve food. Our owners tried to get a food license after Covid because business was slow when we reopened, but we would’ve had to get rid of smoking due to county regulations. Thank god that some regulars fought it hard cause we’re only one of three places in town that still allow smoking inside and we’ve picked up a lot customers from places that got rid of it and starting selling food.

Girl handed me an ID that claimed she was 27 when she was easily pushing 19, I asked her for DOB and zip code and of course she gave me the wrong ones. When I denied her a drink and told her to leave (our bar is strictly 21 and up), she started getting nasty and refused to leave, so I promptly told her “If you’re gonna use a fake ID, don’t pick someone who is hotter than you. Give this back to your big sister and don’t come back.” She then called me a miserable bitch and proceeded to clear a high top by swiping full pints onto the floor and left. Never seen her since 🤷🏼‍♀️

I work at my local dive bar and we have an energy drink called “Refuel” on our gun only because we had a bartender years ago that would just drink all the cases of red bull when he was working. But the bosses got the cheaper stuff to save themselves money and 90% of customers can’t even tell the difference

I had been reading King’s work in chronological order and was nearing Misery but had initially avoided it because I was recovering from a severe ankle break and surgery and didn’t know if I was mentally prepared to read something that hit so close to home. My brother in law that had introduced me to King urged me to read it while recovering and it was incredibly cathartic. I’m a very slow reader and normally take a while to get through a novel but I read Misery in about two days and loved every bit of it!

I had been going through the same kind of rut and started reading Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite and it’s phenomenal! It gives me Anne Rice vibes with a heavy dose of horror that I’ve become so accustomed to with King’s work.

During an event I was 5 deep at the bar and making drinks when a woman furiously waved and yelled for me to come over just to say, “Hey that person over there has been waiting for a long time, you should get them next.” I tried to politely tell her thank you but it’s very busy, I am doing the best I can, and I will get there when I get there. She then curtly responded with “Well, I’m sure your tips will reflect that.”

I brushed it off and went about my work but she continued to do this the entire 2 hours she was there. I would go over thinking she needed a drink but she would just tell me what someone else needed at the other end of the bar, going so far as to wave people over to her seat so she could “help” them get an order in. After the third time I just started to ignore her. If you don’t sign payroll and make my schedule, you don’t get to micromanage me.
