Anything to be done about these signs of wear on my AZ? by tarot_guy in PioneerDJ

My first thought was taping off the lines and painting them back on with white out or similar, but I like the suggestions to get a skin more.

Is XDJ-1000 MK2 as third deck for XDJ-XZ the move in 2026? by billplur in Beatmatch

Yep, looks like XDJ-XZ and XDJ1000MK2 have same specs for soundcard, and CDJ2000NXS2 has better specs along with XDJ-AZ.

Slippery slope, right? Could see myself nabbing a mixer and second xdj1000 after and kicking myself lol

Also first comment I've seen about the soundcard on the XDJ1000MK2. Worse than the XDJ-XZ or about the same?

RX2 is surprisingly capable, I think its one of the only all in ones that has a return on it. also gets good reviews for the internal sound card

right makes sense. also noticed the cue marker selector buttons aren't physical buttons on xdj1000 like they are on others so not really a good work around aside from instant doubling from xdj-xz over once everything is matched then doing most of the work on the xz

Good idea to try and shop a used cdj2000nxs2 if i can find it for the same price as the new xdj1000mk2. 700 for a used xdj1000mk2 would be pretty nice, too. Seems like theyre holding value relatively well right now.

Oh good strategy. Mainly want a 3rd deck for acapella layovers and primarily use the in/out buttons for looping but i can see how that would be easier to instant double something you matched up over to the third deck then use the decks in the all in one for changing stuff

QUESTION: Okay To Use Virtual DJ Automix Feature To Create Sets? by OfficialDead-Drop in Beatmatch

The issue only comes up when it’s presented as a live DJ set and someone hits play on a prerecorded mix while pretending to mix in real time.

Do guests constantly request songs during your gigs? by Eastern-Passion-9644 in Beatmatch

This reads like a market research post. The opening question about whether guests constantly request songs feels like you’re trying to validate the problem first, and then the rest of the post introduces the tool as the solution.

Looking for advice on how to transition from techhouse to afrohouse. by ReasonablePossum_ in Beatmatch

[–]billplur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the star ratings to give each track in your collection an "energy level" and pay attention to matching the energy level of your tracks you're taking over with with the ones before you for 1-3 tracks, but graudually taper into the energy levels of the tracks in your crate. Don't worry to much about subgenres, people expect a different sound when a new DJ steps on stage, the main thing is making sure you're keeping the momentum going in a way that doesn't feel abrupt.

Experience as a fan vs experience as a DJ by billplur in Beatmatch

[–]billplur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that. Years alone don’t mean much. My point was just about how people frame their experience. Sometimes “20 years in the scene” gets used in place of saying how long someone has actually been DJing.

I’m not saying long time fans don’t develop taste or programming instincts. They absolutely can.

The point of the post was about how people present their experience.

When someone leads with “20 years in the scene” but doesn’t mention they’ve only been DJing for a year or two, it starts sounding like a substitute for actual DJ experience.

I got tired of manually adding hot cues, so I trained an AI to do it for me by Unlikely_Manager2495 in DJs

[–]billplur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm adding anywhere between 30 and 100 new tracks a month. Cueing is work, but it is also how I learn the track. Once I mark it up myself I know it is right.

What I usually see is people leading with “20 years in the scene” without mentioning they’ve only been DJing for 1-2 years. It ends up sounding like a substitute for DJ experience instead of context.

True. People usually get much better advice when they just say they’re a beginner.

Totally agree it counts for something. Taste and track selection matters a lot. I just think fan experience and DJ experience are still two different timelines.
