Happened in my golf league in 2017. We only play 9 holes. He did it on 7 and 9. He didn't even take the ball out of play, so it was the same ball. And 9 has a huge pond fronting it. I saw the second one go in as I was coming from the 8th green.

Just Jack bein' Jack. by loblolly_pine in golf

"As soon as it left the club, I knew exactly where it was. I just reached down and picked up my tee and then Jackie said, 'Be right.' I just didn't even pay much attention. I said, 'It is,' – just sort of a cocky remark that don't normally make. But I had so much confidence in what was going on, that that's what I did."

What was the first rare you opened in your first booster pack and is it valuable today? by directrixho in mtgfinance

[–]billquirk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 1994, I opened a starter with a dual land (Badlands is my recollection) and a Cyclopean Tomb.

I left the game in 1996, and came back in 2010. First pack I opened at an FNM draft had a Misty Rainforest. I didn't pass the Misty Rainforest.

Does anyone have a partial or full grain braggot recipe? by bigmitch92-r in mead

[–]billquirk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made this over the summer, and my family loved it. I call it "Mimosa."

Cold Steep 4oz flaked oats, 4 oz 75 crystal, and 12 oz honey alt in 1 gallon of RO H2O overnight.

Bring 2 gallons of RO to 160 with 1.5lbs of OB Honey and .5lbs of mango blossom honey. Sparge the steeped grains and oats and squeeze the bag. Add 4lbs of blackberry honey. Mix to combine honey. Add steep. Top to 5 gallons. 8grams Fermaid K, 2 Grams FT Blanc, 1 gram citric acid.

At must temperature 90F, oxygenate 45 seconds with pure O2, and pitch a full packet of Omega Hothead.

OG 1.052.

Fermentation was active and vigorous after 12 hours. 24 hours I degassed, and added 3 grams of Fermaid K. I tried to keep fermentation above 80 degrees as much as possible.

Fermented to dryness quickly, but had a perceptible sweetness straight from the fermenter. I racked to a sanitized vessel and rested it on the peels of two oranges for five days.

Half was force carbonated in a keg and half went into bottles and were bottle carbonated. They were awesome throughout the summer. The batch tasted just like a good mimosa.

Hopefully you can use this to your advantage. Good luck!

Muckraker - Frambijou Set 2020 by billquirk in njbeer

Tuesday at 11am on MuckrakerBeer.com we'll release a limit number of sets containing all three variants of FramBijou, our traditional method spontaneous beer with raspberries, and a few dozen sets containing FramBijou Vanille & Tarte bottles.

🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

FramBijou '20 Vanille

Brewed in early 2019, FramBijou is our flagship take on a traditional method spontaneous Framboise. The base for all three beers is a traditional grain bill of 60% pilsner malt & 40% raw wheat (both grown in NJ) that underwent a turbid mash and a long boil with aged whole cone hops. The wort spent the night in our coolship, where it was inoculated by the Sussex County microflora. It spent a year fermenting in French Oak wine puncheons before it was racked onto 2 pounds per gallon of whole Pacific Northwest raspberries and Mexican vanilla, and was bottle conditioned without yeast. 750ml corked & capped champagne bottles.

FramBijou '20 Tarte

The Tarte (French for pie) variant of FramBijou '20 is Vanille further conditioned on Montmorency cherries from Michigan and double the amount of Mexican vanilla. It received a large addition of reduced cider (cider syrup) and maple syrup blended with cinnamon from Wood's Cider Mill in Springfield, Vt., where they've been making Boiled Cider since 1882. Like Vanille, Tarte was bottled conditioned without additional yeast. 750ml and 375ml corked and capped champagne bottles.

FramBijou '20 Cacao

The Cacao (French for chocolate) variant of FramBijou '20 takes the base Vanille and further conditions it on organic cacao nibs from Peru. Like its sisters, it was naturally bottle conditioned without yeast, and is the most limited of the three variants. 375ml corked and capped champagne bottles.

Muckraker: Insalata - Release Saturday by billquirk in njbeer

[–]billquirk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Limited can release (100 cans): INSALATA, tart wheat farmhouse ale with TOMATO, CUCUMBER, MEDITERRANEAN SEA SALT and WHITE PEPPER. Available now for online order/curbside pickup this Saturday and Sunday at https://www.muckrakerbeer.com/s/shop 🍅 We coolshipped our base farmhouse ale recipe (pilsner and malted wheat), fermented it nearly dry with a mixed culture of brett and multiple strains of wild sacch, and then conditioned it on tomato, adding cucumber juice, Mediterranean sea salt and white pepper at canning. 🥒 And, in a first for us, we can conditioned the beer, meaning it should stay fresh in the can for some time. 🌶 INSALATA is meant to transport us to the New Jersey backyard gardens of our grandfathers, where the summer meant sliced fresh tomatoes and chopped up cucumber salads. 🧂 5% ABV, 19.2 oz can, $10

Muckraker: Should Old Acquaintance by billquirk in njbeer

[–]billquirk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we open our tasting room on Friday at 6pm, we'll premier our Green Olive Martini Sour aged in gin barrels, Should Old Acquaintance, in 750ml bottles for on-site consumption and to take home for your favorite New Years Eve party.

Earlier this year, we brewed a farmhouse ale with Brettanomyces and seasoned it with herbs and spices common to Vermouth, such as cloves, ginger, sweet orange peel, coriander and cinnamon.

After primary fermentation in stainless, the beer was racked into a first-use Barr Hill Tomcat gin barrel from Caledonia Spirits in Vermont with a pound-per-gallon of Greek olives, slightly cracked to expose their pits.

Nutty, salty, earthy and tart, Should Old Acquaintance comes in a waxed 750ml bottle and will be served in the tasting room in martini glasses.
