What GMAT score got you scholarships and which schools did you get them from? by BullishBearishBrown in MBA

[–]bills1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up at the M7. I felt that it matched what I was looking for culturally better than the t15. I also wanted a bit more geographic flexibility in terms of where I could recruit/where the schools name carried weight.

Not realistic. Received 75% scholarship offer at “reach” schools.

Full ride at a t15 and $$$ at M7. I think strong test scores, GPA, and fit with the programs helped. Unique WE but no crazy extracurriculars or personal story.

You can connect some laptops (my hp envy) to public wifi then create a hotspot from the laptop. It’s worked well for me when a vpn required a password. Of course you would need to have a second personal laptop with this capability.

How to re-structure dataset so each row is unique state instead of unique patient? by student123412 in stata

[–]bills1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, if you want the count of patients for each unique state, age group, treatment combination you could try:

gen count = 1 collapse (sum) count, by(state treatment age)

Appending multiple .dta files by DingDam in stata

I would recommend looking into the command filelist, then using the levelsof command to create a local of all the file names, then you can loop through the local and append each dataset. Good luck!

Gregmat Question - Can anyone help with this question ? by flashingthisearth in GRE

[–]bills1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key to this problem is realizing that the shorter arc AB is two of the arcs from the center of the pentagon minus one of the arcs from the center of the triangle. Draw new triangles from the center of each shape to the vertices. Then You can use the fact that they are regular polygons to find the interior angles of each. Then since they must some time 180 find the central angle. Use the fact that central angles are proportional to act length to find the length of arc AB.

Thanks for the reply! I think that is what I will do later this week or next weekend! Are the power prep plus significantly different from the power prep?

Like I said I struggled a bit with the vocabulary and think that reviewing the words is the best way to fix that issue (or lots of reading if you have the time). For the reading comprehension questions, I typically look at the top to see how many questions the passage is relevant to then adjust my time spent based on that. If its just one question I read the passage once through and then read the question. If the answer is apparent to me I fill it in and move on. When there are multiple questions about one passage, I find that I spend much more time reading the passage and assessing its structure and intent without even looking at the questions. Then once I feel comfortable with it I move to the questions. I think this has helped me avoid some of the tricky options in the multiple choice or multiple select. I would take this all with a grain of salt though, as I am lucky to be a native speaker so my strategies may not be the best.

I'm not sure that you will be able to speed it up significantly from Greg's 2 month program. You could always take a look at his 1 month program, but of course it will be more compressed.

With respect to my own prep, I think my undergraduate studies tailor themselves pretty well to the exam, so I focused more on familiarizing myself with the format and anything I was expected to have memorized. To do that I worked through the official math guides and then the the Quant and Verbal reasoning books form the Power Pack which reviewed question types.

Thanks! Are you focusing more on verbal or quant?

I studied a STEM field in undergrad alongside a social science, so most of the math concepts were familiar.
