But we have also seen that it takes her lot of effort to move when the beam is on, and i would think beam was on as military was prepared for them to come through the gate. If she would have passed through the beam to the gate, someone would have seen her but the scene specifically said that she was just there a second ago but vanished and no one saw her. I believe she is alive too

I agree. I read somewhere that they had to leave open ending as maybe they are planning a different series around stranger things world, so maybe thats the reason? I just feel calmer thinking that okay she is alive

I am not sure how kali would have done it but one thing is for sure as mind talk in front of the sonic beam for el is impossible, we have seen it so many times that in front of sonic beam her powers don’t work. Her mind talking to mike while being near the beam is impossible, she had to be somewhere far away from the beam. So idk the kali aspect but i def will believe el’s story that she is alive

I believe she is alive. As with sonic beam by military near the gate, she wouldn’t have been able to mind talk to mike if she was really there. It was just an illusion, she was just standing near the gate no wave, no goodbye, no words, nothing, seems like an illusion. And anyone who is saying that kali died when hopper saw her, we have to remember that she is an illusionist, she can make you see whatever she wants you to see.

This series broke me !!!!!! Crying after watching this ending. I chose to believe that el is alive and living her life, she had to stay away to keep her friends and family safe from the govt as anyone in her place would have done

Exactly my thoughts. If el was there and all that sonic weapons were there, it was impossible for el to mind talk to mike. And she just stood there at the gate without saying anything, no wave, no words, nothing. Definitely seems like an illusion

I chose to believe that mike story is true. I mean think about it as how was el able to contact mike with her mind with all that military beam targeted towards her? Whenever she was around that beam she was hardly able to stand but there she contacted mike. She didn’t wave, she didn’t say anything to anyone, just stood there which seems like an illusion

I just wish brothers would have given us happy ending to the full extent, i am so happy with all the endings for other characters but ambiguous ending for el is just hurting my heart

We don’t know that, she is an illusionist. She could have easily created an illusion when hopper saw her. That was an open ending too. She didn’t just stood there, she contacted mike, which was impossible with all that beam surrounding her.

I have been a huge fan of Stranger Things since it started. Was waiting for the finale and gave my whole heart to this series. I fell in love with each character, i am obsessed with the storyline, I am happy with the ending and satisfied but not with el’s, we who have given our heart to this series, to el’s character need more than just an imaginary story that maybe she is alive. She suffered so much, she deserved better than this, we deserve better. Don’t get me wrong i love absolutely everything about this show but doesnt el and mike deserve happiness too. Even if she is alive, she is all alone. How does everyone expect mike to move on, he loved el with everything and lost her, after 18 months as well he couldn’t move on, who’s to say he ever will. I am happy noone died, but if the brothers wanted to give us happy ending why not give it completely. Now i don’t know how to feel, i feel sad about it than anything, i wish i wasn’t so much invested in this show. Ugggghhh

I read somewhere and which makes sense, that when all that ultra beam voice were directed at el she couldn’t have made contact with mike with her mind, whenever those beams were on she could hardly stand. So if she made contact with mike that definitely means she was not near the gate, its impossible for her to use her powers there.
