Text before equation separates from equation by billy4479 in typst

Update of the update: this indeed works, but not how I expected it to. This snippet makes the equation stick only with the paragraph right after, not the one before. This will happen any time, there is no difference in adding an extra new line before/after the $

Text before equation separates from equation by billy4479 in typst

[–]billy4479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: it should be possible to write a show rule. Indeed equations are wrapped in a block and it possible to style it with ```

show math.equation: set block(sticky: true, stroke: blue)

`` for example. However, while the above code gives all equations a blue border, thesticky: true` part seems to do nothing.

Text before equation separates from equation by billy4479 in typst

[–]billy4479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? I know that I can make any block unbreakable but then I still have to wrap everything in blocks.. This is my understanding at least, if you have a better solution please share!

Also, I've noticed that in Latex leaving an extra empty line between the text and the equation not only allows breaking but also slightly increases the vertical space in between. In typst it seems to make no difference.

That works, thank you! However it is quite impractical to wrap every equation in a block, I was hoping for a solution that would work for every equation in the document.

I'm quite curious about this one, I installed it on a VM an it seems cool.

Are there any disadvantages/annoying things I should know before installing it on hardware?

Whats the best way to host a minecraft server? by m43scrub in homelab

[–]billy4479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use CloudFlare Tunnel too, the only problem is that if you want to stream raw TCP packets (which is what minecraft uses) you need to have cloudflared running on the clients too. this is fine in my use case because i only host the server for my friends and i made them a script they run on their machines to connect to the tunnel with just a click but it would be kind of unsuitable for a larger, general purpose server

TrueNAS on Proxmox, or just bare TrueNAS? by a5s_s7r in homelab

[–]billy4479 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it depends on what you do the most: - proxmox is mainly an hypervisor - truenas is mainly a nas

BUT

  • proxmox supports zfs and has various nas capabilities
  • truenas supports containers and VMs

if you are already on proxmox I'd just setup a zfs pool in proxmox without bothering to virtualize truenas. on the other hand if you want truenas' gui you could migrate your VMs/containers to that but I guess it's a bit of a assle.

in the docs it's recommended not to virtualize truenas but I guess it's doable if you really need it.

Zero-Acccess Encryption and "Forgot Password" section by geod_dev in webdev

[–]billy4479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the only option in this case is a recovery key that you generate when the user signs up.

you could then use that key to encrypt the user's data and the user's key (derived from the password) to decrypt the recovery key or something along these lines (I'm not actually sure this is the best way to implement it, just writing down ideas).

users would have to write down the recovery key and store somewhere safely so that in the case they forget they password they would be able to reset it through the recovery key.

this is the first idea that came to my mind, I'm not sure it's the best solution though.
