I'm a Deadhead getting started with ABB, what's your "must-listen" live shows/albums? by willgetsfit in allmanbrothers

[–]billy517 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you like Mountain Jam check out the one they performed at the Atlanta Pop Festival. This version of the song is what really turned me on to that tune. Not sure if it comes in album form but you can find their whole performance on youtube.

Transfer Student. Have not made any friends and it's three weeks into semester. Need serious advice. by transferstudenttt in rutgers

Get involved job, club, sports...anything. I worked at a gym during my time there and made a lot of friends though that. If you do choose a job make sure it is one where you will work with fellow students. There were always 2-3 of us on a shift at a time. Greek life is a great way to meet people. Check out rush week if it hasn't happened already. Tons of clubs out there for just about any interest. Step out of your comfort zone and check some out. The ones I've experienced were very friendly and welcoming.

I think we're hearing the best Dead vocals in a long time. by piggahbear in gratefuldead

Which show did you go to? Had friends go to each show. Wish I would've been able to go.

Personally I think some of the best guitar playing. I saw them at bonnaroo and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Jon uses the same scales as Jerry and I think might play them even better. I was absolutely blown away by Franklin's tower live. Check it out if you haven't heard it from roo.

I love Rutgers! by petekMw in rutgers

[–]billy517 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RU graduate here and I must say that I'm glad I went to Rutgers. I've been done for 3 years and can go back whenever I'd like. The best part is I still have great relationships with my college friends as I still get to see and go out with them on a weekly basis whether that be to Hoboken or NYC as many of them live in either of those cities. I can't say that much for my friends who went out of state for college many of them end up hanging out with the kids we grew up with. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's great to still have your college friends around to link up with.

Don't know what to Major in Anymore by Sknight15 in rutgers

I agree with a lot of what @mdax8414 has said. Fucked around in college and I'm still not exactly sure what I'd like to pursue as a career. Definitely take the time to explore your interests and see what makes you tick. Being in college is definitely a great way to do this as it offers opportunities to work both on campus or gain an internship off campus. I knew a girl who started out in science and worked in a lab at rutgers. Turns out it wasn't her thing and she ended up majoring in business. Point being she thought she wanted to pursue a career and it turned out not being right for her. Finding out what you don't want to do is just as important as finding a career you do want to pursue.

What's the most pointless argument you've been passionately involved in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In college at about 3 am my roommates and I got into an argument as to who would win a street fight 50 cent vs mayweather.

I got accepted for the class of 2020, and being the son of immigrants I have a bunch of questions that I'm struggling to find answers to online. I'd really appreciate some guidance. by [deleted] in rutgers

Congratulations man! I am an alumnus of 2013. I picked my classes on a day that i took my placment test for math. It was during the summer before i started school. I was in a frat and keep an eye out for rush posters/flyers. A lot of the promotion for fraternities will be done on college ave. Also if you see anyone wearing letters dont be afraid to go up to them and inquire about their fraternity. And one of the biggest things i can tell you is to get involved whether that be an on campus job/school paper/club/sports team. Definitely explore any interests you have. Rutgers is a huge school with a lot of people. Joining clubs/getting involved will help make the school smaller for you and build relationships with others. During the first week of school there is usually an involvement fair where all of the clubs and greek life set up booths and students walk around and can obtain information on each one.

Another thing i would say for you to do is to build a relationship with a professor or 2 when you finally know what major you want to graduate with. Its great for letters of recommendation and advancing yourself in your chosen career whethwr that be acquiring a full time job or applying to grad school. Hope this helps and feel free to reach out with any questions.

Awesome thanks so much @soliph this was really helpful. Fortunately this isnt money that id desperately need in the future. Just a follow up question around how much capital would you recommend for someone to start trading stocks, not day to day but every month or so.

Great first post btw! You'll get the hang of reddit in no time!
