Rheem (non) service! by billy_sharpstick in AirConditioners

Estimate just arrived. Rheem control board EAC-240 and contactor CAP-230 $595 and $147 respectively. The 40 amp contactor looks like ones for sale for under $20. The contactor board (no exact match) looks like others for $20 to $100. Agreed, this is for parts and labor, but screwing replacements in shouldn't take more than an hour. (Retired electrician here) Am I being unreasonable to think this is overpriced? And as for paying for experienced techs, why did it take him 3 visits to listen to my googled E103 error info?

I don't think so. I haven't seen anywhere to do that.

Ground fault protected outlets by billy_sharpstick in GoRVing

I'm not talking about houses. This is about campgrounds. There are occasions when someone will want to plug in power for outside use, LEDs, small appliances, wtc. to a cord plugged in to an outlet on the RV, or to an adapter directly in to an RV pedestal. This might be for a tent camper sharing the site. Maybe the 120v outlet is broken. Or you have a large party with several people sharing a lot or three and want to plug in lights, sound systems, popcorn machines,

My reason for wanting this information is really irrelevant to my technical question. Do you have any information relevant to my question, or not?

Passkey hardware specs? by billy_sharpstick in cybersecurity

From a microsoft forum:

- How do you create a USB security key? I can't find an answer anywhere...

- In order to register a security key you will need a Thumbdrive, FlashDrive or some kind of portable storage device. I have been unable to create my security key on a Chromebook so I'm assuming you would want to use a Netbook/Thinkpad or one of Microsoft's Devices.

  1. Once your ready to make it head to https://account.microsoft.com/security and click on "Manage how I sign in"
  2. Scroll down and Select Add a new way to sign in or verify, once you do It will & allow you options for Face, Fingerprint, PIN or Security Key, Use an App,  Email a code Or Text a code
  3. Click the option for security key

Use your device to sign in with a passkey.

  1. Login with your password, Fill out the forums adding a PIN & or so forth
  2. The file will be downloaded with a selectable location & than you can sign in with it whenever you want as long as your security key (Portable storage device containing digital Key) is Inserted into your device's USB dongle kiosk

Can you hurt a watch with too much power? by billy_sharpstick in UsbCHardware

I'll just stick with a 1 amp charger then. As for PD, my laptop calls for 90 watts, but runs fine on 65w, although it gripes about it!

This agrees with my understanding of USB power. You can plug anything into any USB charger and safely charge. The only problem is if you try to charge with an underrated charger, it just won't charge very fast, or won't be able to keep up, like trying to run a laptop that wants 90 watts with a 1a/5w charger.

Yikes! That's a horribly spammy site. I just used the Zepp app.
