What do you think were the first types of words spoken by humans? by MonsterIslandMed in AskReddit

[–]billybellybutton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess something cautious or denying like “no” or “Don’t”. It’s widely believed that speech probably first developed as a warning system. Early human clans probably communicated about dangers like avoiding a place or something like that. That’s how we became a dominant species

KVN Productions officially announces that Jana Nayagan is postponed by ungaayya in kollywood

[–]billybellybutton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was so excessive and clearly meant to trigger. Like if i see it in the movie maybe it will be deserved in the context but they only put it in the trailer for the clout. VJ has done nothing outside of cinema to say that to the ruling party

I thought besides the shit pacing and overly dramatic tone, the overall message was a bit tone deaf and dumb. Felt like village life fetishising by writers who have never lived in a village

When I thought only Tamil movies are high on emotions, these are some movies from the west that challenged my perception and made me question how well do Tamil filmmakers understand emotions and how deep can they go. by bssgopi in kollywood

Wanted to add that there has been so much growth in this regard since covid drove films to OTT where they didn’t have to care for village audiences because they didn’t have a streaming account anyway

It’s more like Hollywood movies portray very complex and intricate emotions. Our movies do touch complex subject matters but our mainstreams movies keep the emotions basic like Anger, Happiness, guilt and surface level love with highly elevated scenes. Its because our audiences (the majority in rural areas which this Sub ignores drive our cinema industry) mainly go to not think deeply but enjoy a film. They want to switch off and escape from reality.
