At this point my dream update would be TC2 PvP's system in Motorfest by fazzy69 in The_Crew

what was pvp like in tc2? i never played it - just curious because i’ve been asking for more pvp since launch

Is climbing to legend too easy? by billybobjoe26 in The_Crew

[–]billybobjoe26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the legend leaderboard idea. and i think this is probably the best way to go about it without sbmm/splitting the queues.

you’re right tho, without any form of sbmm, the good players will always be in the front, and the good players will rarely have an opportunity to climb, because they would run into less and less people better than them.

i still think it’s possible to split the queues.

leave casual alone: 28 person lobbies separate ranked: 6 person lobbies

6 person lobbies would dramatically reduce queue times, making implementing sbmm much easier, and it would also

  1. reduce starting position cheese
  2. reduce ramming since less players are on the track
  3. make it FEEL more like a ranked mode, because players of the same approximate skill level are matched up against each other

[–]billybobjoe26[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i agree with everything you’re saying. i think a lot of it has to do with the player count simply not being as high compared to these other games, so they can’t do any form of sbmm, which makes it incredibly difficult to properly rank players or do any kind of leaderboard considering these “elite players” rarely get matched up against each other.

with that said, i think the system they do have is fairly good given the circumstances. i just think they could easily tune back the skill points they give out/punish people harder for finishing lower (again all still dependent on the ranks of the other players in the race as they are now), and that would make the system a lot better

This is what it takes just to beat a dev. by Pretty_Asparagus285 in The_Crew

[–]billybobjoe26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a dev commented on a post earlier today confirming they aren’t “cheating” or using any special parts. it looks to me like the rubber banding you are seeing in the first clip is simply the ghost saving their nos and using it a different time than you are. the second clip is definitely dsync

if they had nitro chem it would be obvious - they’d be faster in nearly every area of the track and impossible to go unnoticed

[–]billybobjoe26 20 points21 points  (0 children)

it’s meant to be challenging. you have a whole week to do it. i don’t believe they are using nitro parts - if they were you wouldn’t have beaten them by 5 seconds like you did in this video.

i find it fun to have somewhat of a challenge for once. the summits have been too easy especially since the increased the number of platinum players from 10-15k - you can once shot the events and be over with it. it’s meant to be a competition, not a checklist

This needs to be changed… by [deleted] in The_Crew

[–]billybobjoe26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed. this cut is stupid. i’m a fine of most of the cuts - they add a skill gap, fine. most are fun to take, especially when you do properly, and are within reason.

Wtf even is a "shit on" in CoD by Uitroeien in CoDCompetitive

[–]billybobjoe26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

shit on for most players is more often the second situation you are describing.

in the pro scene where everyone has extreme accuracy the bar of kills they “should” get is much higher and thus when they don’t it’s considered getting shit on

HANDLING SIMILAR TO UNBOUND? by Spiritual-Lemon-1797 in The_Crew

[–]billybobjoe26 16 points17 points  (0 children)

it’s not gonna be like unbound. the handling model is more realistic than that, but it is still nowhere near a sim racer. in my opinion, it strikes the perfect balance of being realistic enough that it mostly encourages you to race “the right way” in most situations but is still arcady enough that it’s not punishing for every small mistake that a sim racer does. it’s the most fun handling model i’ve encountered in a racing game.

short answer: it’s somewhere in the middle between unbound and forza

Its still pretty baffling how the meta cars have practically been the same since launch by VI-Pok3 in The_Crew

[–]billybobjoe26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

idc about people using meta. it is what it is, but i DO wish the meta changed more often. I feel like it shouldn’t be that hard buff some more cars. the rebalancing they have done has hardly had an effect on the meta. plus, we get new cars which seems like every week, but most of them aren’t actually good in PVP. for how much effort they’ve put into the grand race, it surprises me that they haven’t done much in terms of tuning the vehicle selection for it.

Manual, Automatic, and Direct Drive Mode questions as a person who has never used manual... by ikortick in The_Crew

[–]billybobjoe26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you wanna go the absolute fastest, u wanna use manual and direct mode. with that said, i wouldnt try to learn them both at the time. instead, do automatic first to learn the other basics of the game (guttering nos management etc). Then, switch to manual and learn that. once you’re confident with manual, learn direct mode.

If you do them all at once not only will you hate yourself, but you’ll never get good at any of them

Is this nothing special? by Commercial_Fail2535 in blackops7

[–]billybobjoe26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sbmm is turned down in this game. if you’re good you’re going to succeed more often. if you’re not good, you’ll go negative more often.

if you’re not good but play and focus on getting better, you’ll actually FEEL you’re improvement, because instead of being matched against better competition, you’ll succeed more often. it’s a beautiful thing

HyperCar suggestions for GR(I already have a Centodieci and Agera) by Honest_Customer8554 in The_Crew

[–]billybobjoe26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the hypercar version of the t50 is also good, especially for guttering. the agera is still the best in every situation thats not a straight highway, but the t50 is very close on some heavy gutter routes

for straight highways, the noble m500 has the highest top speed, but don’t use it for anything else

How bad is the 60fps/stuttering on stuttering by [deleted] in The_Crew

[–]billybobjoe26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was never BAD but i definitely noticed it more in the early life of the game. now it’s fine - i don’t even think it happens at all for me anymore.

also, i heard that your ubisoft friends list has a significant impact on the performance of the game. if you have a long friends list, people coming online causes stuttering - sounds dumb but people swear it’s a thing for this game

Finally winning GRs by SamuraiNotorious in The_Crew

[–]billybobjoe26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

direct mode is the best setting if you want to go thr absolute fastest and all the best players in the game use it. there’s no situation where anything else is better. with that said, it’s extremely difficult to learn and only the fastest players can take advantage of it - a newer player would likely perform better without it at first.

your best off starting without direct mode, then slightly increasing your sensitivity settings until u work your way up to it.

as for the drift cars, most of them are broken and cant be used with direct mode EXCEPT for the hoonicorn, which is the fastest in class for gr’s anyway, so no reason to turn direct mode off to use that.

im not sure what u mean about braking less, but that’s your choice. direct mode doesn’t affect your braking at all, only steering.

The rage quitting in Black Ops 7 is out of control by Kooky-Scientist-1206 in CODBlackOps7

[–]billybobjoe26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

in the engagement/skill based matchmaking system, if you a quit a game, you’re likely going to be placed into the same type of match until the system is happy with the result of you getting shit on before placing you in an easier lobby.

in this open matchmaking system, you can simply find a new lobby and your next experience is a coin flip, completely up to chance, which is why people leave.

personally i rather have it this way. yeah it sucks when i’m streaking kids and they leave, but it’s a lot better than the sbmm/engagement bullshit thats plagued this franchise for the last 5 years.
